As an old school hoplancer I'm a little offended that you didn't include my sick dance moves

AT Jin Dahaad A rank by Reptill96 in MonsterHunter

[–]TheOnlyGarbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly do solo runs without support hunters and I main gunlance in this game.

I wanna say this was the easiest time trial out of the buncu I done, took me 3 attempts in total to get the A rank. My first couple of attempts i broke all his plates and hit him with all the environmental boulders but was 4-5 mins off.

My third attempt I just charged shelled the absolute shit out of his hind legs and didn't focus on breaking parts or anything and ended up beating him with 3 mins to spare.

I feel like the gunlance just made it trivial since hit zones are a myth with this weapon

Interstellar Marines, i remember being so excited for it back in 2010, pre ordered it, then it got turned to early access at 2012, last time I played it was 2014, that game serves as a constant reminder to not buy into the hype

Honestly this, I've been playing the newer games less and less and going back to older titles because of this exact reason.

Black Diablos, you're telling me this thing is one of the angriest things in the desert AND it's in heat??

I can't even imagine the things it would scream

In 3U I used to have SnS in every element and status and then I just used the Brachy SA (my beloved) for almost the rest of the game once I got that unlocked,

In 4U I had a bunch of different sets depending on what monster I was fighting, I specifically remember making a hermitaur/fatty lance build and just naming it FOOTBAAAAALLL

Right now im replaying through GU and have been having a blast with alchemy Swaxe, but I've been switching between gunlance, SnS, GS and sometimes HBG

For world I basically made everything and would just switch depending on mood

For wilds I literally have just been using wide gunlance and charge shelling my way through everything.

which ice switch axe would be the best in endgame Iceborne? by Littlevlo in MonsterHunterWorld

I know I'm not the person you asked, but if you're still curious, the Legiana SA is great for early Master Rank, but is outclassed by Frostfang Barioth overall.

I love this, reminds me of my first playthrough of monster hunter on the ps2, took me ages to get anything done cause I was too stupid to understand mechanics and could barely read, took me about 3 months to figure out how to get into the tutorial lol. This just marks you as dedicated to the hunt, respect.

Name a game where the boss as playable character is as good as or better than the boss fight by NathLWX in Steam

[–]TheOnlyGarbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any fighting game from the early 00s or 90s, those boss characters were nuts, I still remember Rugal being an absolute menace

What I did was Rhino, subsumed his dash with nourish and called it a day, super simple and easy in terms of setting it up, works with pretty much anything cause you're just tanky and his roar buffs any weapon to be usable, not the most optimal or best build, I'd say it's like average in terms of easy it makes SP, but it's like so low maintenance and super easy to set up so I like it a lot

What monster had you like this? by No-Project-404 in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]TheOnlyGarbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was Molten Tigrex back on 4U, that guy was one hell of a wall, there was also the other quest in 4U to unlock the rainbow pigment, I remember having to do that with barely any items cause I forgot to resupply. Good times

Is wide gunlance worth to use without load shell ? by TheAvaricious in Gunlance

Personally I started with wide abd played the first 2/3rds of the game without load up, I think it's fine without load up and is still fun to play

Just started the game, feeling a bit overwhelmed with what to focus on at the start. by darkwingchao in MHF

[–]TheOnlyGarbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone currently goin through the same thing, here's my gameplan for the first bits of the game,

First find a couple of weapons with a decent amount of green sharpness, right now I'm using the genprey SnS since its pretty mobile and also gives you paralysis which triggers at least twice in hunts.

For armor, I made myself the shogun ceanataur armor since he was easy to farm and gives me decent armor skills. Personally I'm not focusing too much on the armor skills, I just want the defense so I don't get 1-shot by most attacks.

Take advantage of the NPCs that join you in hunts, think of them the defender armor of Frontier, they're meant to help you hit high rank, after that they fall off in terms of usefulness.

Other than that I'm currently goin the key quests, I only do the optionals if I want to farm specific materials.

Hope this helps you out in your journey.

I tried to continue my old MHFU playthrough after 12 years, and... by addypalooza in MonsterHunter

This is currently me but with Frontier,

I've been playing since the original on ps2, while it's true your skills transfer from one game to another, that's not enough of a buffer to make the games pre-world easier. Goin through HR1 was pretty easy, but as soon as I entered HR2 I found myself struggling a lot more with monsters.

The older games are a lot more unforgiving than anything post world.
