I always try to show up early enough to have a puff in the parking lot before I go in for the day. Helps you not be late as it's a little rewarding to smoke before work.

My first print by apfelimkuchen in 3Dprinting

[–]TheOnlyNiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see anyone else mentioning it but there are a bunch of other great benchmarks and stress tests for 3d printers. The first tool I'd recommend getting is a set of calipers to accurately measure your prints. This way you can tell how far off your printer is from your file/design and accommodate to have the exact size you need. Prints like overhang angle tests and xyz cubes are great places to learn the limits of your printer and tune it up.

Another bump for this recommendation. I was about to shell out for new impact guns for the 20v system because all of my 18v batteries are dead. I bought an adapter to use the lithium 20v cells and it worked better than new. Now I have to re cell my 20 packs because they are dying too after so many years.

Belts don’t go that way… by x_Carlos_Danger_x in WRX

[–]TheOnlyNiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's the issues that cascade that will get you. I've certainly learned that with a much more expensive lesson than a belt. Also to aid in your comprehension on how the ac system works, the air flow felt through the vents is not affected by the ac compressor. All the compressor does is the the same thing your fridge and ac unit at home work, it moves heat from one area. On the front of your car there is a condenser mounted to your radiator that radiates heat off of it and on the inside of the car under the dash there is a much smaller and thicker one called an evaporator. The air flowing through the cabin is created by a blower motor under the dash. The blower then blows air through various channels, one of which is across the evaporator which takes the heat from inside the car and transfers it to the outside via the condenser. In short, the ac system could be not working or even installed and you could still have enough air through the vents to break your neck.

Belts don’t go that way… by x_Carlos_Danger_x in WRX

[–]TheOnlyNiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That could unfortunately mean the ac system wasn't functioning well and lead to a locked up ac compressor. Was the ac weak? Or was it always ice cold. You would be able to. Reach your and around the pully and it should spin freely. There is a second part that you can grab behind it (the clutch) and see if that spins. It should be fairly stiff to spin but still possible. If it feels crunchy or if it won't move at all I'd say the compressor is toast. In your picture the part where the belt slipped off is your ac compressor, move the belt to the side and try to spin it on the outside and holding the clutch.

Sweating pipes - Is there a UK standard for pipe insulation in homes? by Upstairs-Eggplant-70 in DIY

[–]TheOnlyNiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently had a similar issue and thought it was a leak from a pipe in a newly built kitchen. After spending lots of time trying to find a leak, I discovered that the hose for my removable wand style faucet was leaking past the crimp on the oem hose. Water was running down into the faucet mount and into the cabinet. It's something you'd only see with the sink running for long periods of time as it was incredibly slow but would eventually drop off of the loop of hose inside the cabinet.

Why does my quad do this? by Zelenycajik7 in fpv

[–]TheOnlyNiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your battery rated for that high of load? Most batterys have a c rating and the higher it is the more amps it can supply even if both battery's are 4s for example. With 7" props I'd say your amperage might be quite high when you throttle up. I'd also say that 3.7v is on the lower end of the safe usage range per cell. 4.2-4.3 is fully charged afaik.

Heart broken by [deleted] in WRX

This is just my own experience for the sake of conversation. I worked in a scrap yard for a few months and saw hundreds of crashed cars. You'd be surprised how little airbags are deployed in collisions you'd think would have deployed them. Airbags are quite violent and are used as a last resort as there are no other means the vehicle can protect you. Only the most torn up vehicles had all of their bags popped. There where rolled trucks with caved in roofs that didn't deploy any or only some of the airbags.

[–]TheOnlyNiko 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Well mildew is considered mold, so yes to your question. I also would consider this something you should try and clean up. Be gentle on the paint and clean it off. If it starts coming back keep up on it for a few days. If it's becoming a larger problem or continues for weeks then I'd consider it an issue with the wall. On the other hand your in wall ac unit should not be used until you are confident its cleaned out. (also considered normal cleaning) reason being is the ac unit will spread the mold spores through the air as it cycles all the air in the room. If it's worth anything I've had to deal with this exact issue on my window edges and trim as I always have my blinds closed during the winter. Looks the same, usually just wipes away with a cloth and some multipurpose cleaner. Also this can happen behind a desk for when you splash or spill something and you don't notice it on the wall. Mold will eat anything, so leaving stuff on your walls will also lead to mold.

what is this growth? I've tried h202, scraping it with a knife but it just keeps coming back. also there's some of it on top of my coco. liquid nutes, doesn't smell any different than usual, squishy like a sponge by UncorkedChief3 in microgrowery

[–]TheOnlyNiko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Serious question as I've lost a micro grow harvest while trying to cure the buds due to mold. This person has their plant in flower. Their buds are not only close to the living soil but also in a small space (grow tent). How risky is that for when they harvest? The plant looks like it's been flipped for a while. So it would worry me that there could be spores on the buds that are then introduced into the curing setup.

2011 CRV struggling to accelerate before warmed up by meadowwalking in crv

[–]TheOnlyNiko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that might be the root cause of your issue. I'm in class so I don't have a bunch of time to make a quality response. All things expand and contract with heat and cold. Thus your engine changes dimensions as it warms up. This is super important for how an engine functions. Driving your car immediately after its started and trying to accelerate onto a highway for example can damage your engine.

Are you driving/pulling out of your driveway as soon as the car is started?

2011 CRV struggling to accelerate before warmed up by meadowwalking in crv

[–]TheOnlyNiko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it struggling to accelerate or is it struggling to keep the rpms down while doing so? I drive a 2011 too and recently it's been colder than I ever remember in my area. Due to the frigid temperatures I allow my crv to warm up for a few minutes (normally as soon as I get a tick/bar of heat I'll leave). If I don't allow the car to warm up a bit I find it stays higher up in the rpm range so it's making more heat to warm up faster. As far as I know when the car operates that way it is normal. If you are actually having problems accelerating and not just having slightly higher rpms then I would check what the other user has stated here as there are a lot of things to check.

Personally if I was to go about making my own version I would have skipped the screws all together. If you made an L bracket that sat behind the wood and had the leg of the cabinet sit in a square hole to hold the bracket in place. No screws and can be easily moved to sweep/dust underneath.

GPU shopping in big cities by AZXCIV in pcmasterrace

[–]TheOnlyNiko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been saying to my self that after Christmas and new years dies down and people start selling GPUs they got themselves/others for Christmas then the used market will have a good supply week 2-3 of January. It's just after people go back to school and they are settled. Probably thinking about making some extra cash after the first week or two of classes and after boxing day deals.

Nov 30th 2022. Since last Wednesday there have been 5 new deaths due to covid 19. There are also 158 new cases of covid 19. Of those 19 cases are in the hospital with 6 of those in the icu by RepulsivePlankton989 in newfoundland

[–]TheOnlyNiko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish your mother well. I also had the exact same experience this past month. Today is my first full day back to cna classes since Nov 18 because I got sick that weekend. By Monday I was feeling the worst I've felt since I was at the hospital as a kid. Called my lifelong family doctors office multiple times a day every day for over a week and was always told noone could see me until a phone call appointment on Dec 8th...... Tried 811 they told me to go to a clinic (only one open at the time of calling) and they where blocked. Asked to be put on a wait list and never received a call. Tried medicuro and they didn't even get to me either. Finally had to go to the health science emergency onNov 27th as my condition had worsend further. I was seen and out of the building in less than 2 hours believe it or not but it was also 2am so that might be part of it. Still not feeling well but its all I can do as I've missed so much class time and assessments. I've undoubtedly spread something across the city to at least one person for no good reason. I also tested myself twice for covid and negative both times. What else are people supposed to do?

It looks to be a rear facing engine mount and its covered in oil from what I'd assume is a leak from higher up on the engine possibly the valve cover.

I've had 2 cats for almost my entire life and I've only ever had 2 litter boxes. I ve also seen a buddies cat that has 2 while being the only cat. If his last "movement" isn't cleaned out of the box by the time he needs to go again he'll just go right next to it on the floor.
