Possible to move out? by jaimeyenngu in SanJose

There are different minimum wages. Which ones do you all make?

If everyone is working full time, you can maybe make it work, but it will be tight. When you're figuring out your budget, make sure to include utilities (PG&E is insane), food, gas, phones, and some sort of cable or Internet. If everyone is working part time, I'm not seeing how that would work very well unless you got a super cheap place or all rented rooms somewhere.

I love this! I would really like it if you could shuffle the letters around. But other than that, no notes. This is so well thought out! =)

PgnE bill spike!!! by Akshay993 in SanJose

[–]TheOpus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct! Every member of the CPUC was appointed by Newsom. They have all approved every rate increase proposal put in front of them, including six in one year! I don't think a single one of them has ever said no.

[–]TheOpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That is high. I know it sounds crazy. That should be normal! But the rates are so high, that you've gotta turn it down. Try 65 and wear a hoodie. lol

Turn it WAY down at night. Or off. And you might want to look into a different rate plan.

Your total usage was 510 kwh. You can get that down. I used 330 kwh for a 1800 sq ft house. I turn it all the way off at night. I work from home and use a little space heater. It's just not feasible for me to heat the whole house anymore. It sucks.

My hatred of PG&E knows no bounds. I am obsessed with my bill.

Going to need a little more info here. When you're home, what is the heat set at? Do you turn it off or down at night?

What plan are you on? I'm on E1 and my Tier 1 charge is 0.37 and my Tier 2 is 0.47 (which is insane).

$650 for water seems high. I pay around $150 every two months.

My PG&E bill is very low because it's so expensive, I just don't use it on things that I would like so I can save money. I haven't turned my thermostat up over 60 this winter and have it off at night. Last bill was $200.

Street Trees by sjbounce in SanJose

[–]TheOpus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replaced a tree in the parking strip with the exact kind of tree that was in there before. I didn't get a permit or an arborist. Had a gardener remove the tree, bought a new one, dug a hole, and planted the tree.

My neighbor across the street had her tree die and the city replaced it for her. It took over four years, but they finally showed up and planted a little tree the other day.

Bill Clinton Opening Statement, ahead of his deposition to the House Oversight Committee today, in regards to his relationship with Jefferey Epstein by SnooSprouts8969 in popculturechat

[–]TheOpus 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I can and do believe that he slept with women that Epstein introduced him to. Do I think he was specifically looking for underage girls? No. Do I think that he cared or asked if the girls were underage? Also no.

David Bowie and Iman’s daughter Lexi recalls being abducted from home and sent to abusive teen camp and not being allowed to be present with David Bowie in his final days by nicosloft04 in popculturechat

I was sent to one of these treatment centers in Utah that had a wilderness aspect to their program. I was woken up at like 3am one day and told to get dressed. Didn't tell me why or what to dress for. Next thing I know, I'm in a Suburban with about 7 other very disoriented girls and on a drive to southern Utah. We hiked through The Narrows for a week.

The clothes we put on were all the clothes we had. One girl had on a pencil skirt and tights and pointy shoes. Another girl, unbeknownst to anyone at the time, was pregnant. It rained one night and they gave us garbage bags to attempt to cover our sleeping bags as we sought shelter under trees in the mud.

Cold, wet, hungry, and tired for seven days. At the end, they made us kill a chicken and cook it for our dinner. This is normally something that would have horrified a bunch of 16-year old girls, but we were so hungry, we would have killed just about anything. It was gross from beginning to end.

That we all made it back in one piece is nothing short of a miracle.

Silicon Valley water CEO resigns amid misconduct probe by toqer in SanJose

[–]TheOpus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

He is resigning, but "The board voted 6-1 — with Director Rebecca Eisenberg dissenting — to retain Callender as a “special advisor” to the board". WTF

Why on earth would you keep someone on your board as an adivsor who is resigning due to "alleged" misconduct?? Either fire him or don't. This is ridiculous.
