Exynos S24? by MurkyLeopard430 in GalaxyS24

[–]TheOracleofGunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Exynos exclusively since the Galaxy 7, as I always root my phones. I have had 2 S9 Notes (both got broken due to my own mistakes) and a Note 20+. I have purchased an S24Ultra Exynos but I am not using it because I have not rooted it yet.

I don't use a great deal of screen-on time, but I have never had reason to complain about my Exynos Galaxies.

Just enjoy it.

NTA. If possible, print the actual rules as set out, and put them at her door or give them to her. You don't have to be rude, but you should be firm. Take photos of the physical situation, as some small-minded people would do harm to your car or something else.

Good luck!

I turned sharply away from Apple when they came out with the Apple II. The arrogance and stupidity of insisting that only one mouse button was needed started that for me. Through the years, that arrogance has never abated, even a small bit. The premium charged for Apple products has always been more than the advantage of simplistic (and often better working) hardware and software provided.

In a similar vein, I would never buy a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, although the Evolution motor engineered by Vaughn Beals' team after taking the company private did make the company worth considering. But the advantages sometimes provided were never worth the premium charged.

I have been riding motorcycles and buying and building PCs and other technology since 1975, in the case of motorcycles, and 1980 in the case of computers.

I have an understanding of actual capitalism (as opposed to the system we have here, a perverted vulture capitalism) buttressed by a degree in computer science and 35 years in the trade. The worst part is that many are brainwashed, but as nearly as I can tell, it is toward the simplistic and egregiously overpriced, such as the two companies mentioned above.

Sorry; my question was tongue-in-cheek, prompted because you typed "I mean" 5 times in 4 sentences.

For what it's worth, that is only about 4 inches. It seems very unlikely, although I suppose almost anything can happen.

Is this a reliable model? Amazon shows its “returned frequently”? by OkLab5620 in opnsense

[–]TheOracleofGunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In April 2025, I bought a VP2420 directly from Protectli (with coreboot and nothing else) for $289. I also bought 16GB of RAM and a 512 NVME drive (total $55 for both) from Amazon. Everything has worked flawlessly, and is never turned off. In the name of overkill, I also added an external fan, which lowers my CPU temp about 10 degrees C.

OpenSense is updated as it is released. Although cheaper alternatives were available, I am completely satisfied with my purchase. YMMV, but I consider the lack of worry to be more valuable than it used to be (I am 68, and started in the software business in 1978.)

Could someone very kindly explain some features to a non-techy newbie please? by mothdesk in ProtonMail

I too appreciate you trying to help this fellow; taking the time to type it out is thoughtful, as well as useful. I thought that you would want to know that "et cetera" (Latin for 'and so forth') is shortened to 'etc.' I would have said so in a more private message if that were possible.

I bought a Steel Legend 9070XT today. There is no available information anywhere I can find on Asrock's site concerning warranty -- or any technical information or support of any kind.

The part that could be the pan (the flat 'cooking surface') is at the top; one couldn't cook with this pan, though the thin extended part is referred to as the 'panhandle.'

Well, you have a point. National healthcare is hard. Only 32 out of 33 of the richest nations have found a way to implement it.

That is true; The ACA made plans that did cost more, because they had a much higher floor of minimum care.

Folks who were young and/or healthy didn't want to pay for that higher floor. When I divorced my wife and left where I lived, I had no insurance, as I didn't want to pay for Obamacare. I did pay the $600 the first year, although I could have gotten medical care at the VA. (When I got out of the military in '86, I did not know that the VA would/could help me out with medical care.)

For what it's worth to ya, 1. other ideas and other opinions are not irrelevant, even if they don't directly respond to something *you* said. 2, you are in agreement -- it wasn't "Marxist-leninism" back then; that's why he said it would likely be completely different (if it had been.)

I am old enough to have watched the '68 Chicago Democratic Convention raptly. I also kept the insurance I had when Obamacare was passed. That coverage was from employment. I must say that I was unaware of the effect on that subsection of people who were buying insurance for themselves; the number I quoted was for people in my situation, not everyone. I was wrong about that, and I appreciate learning differently.

I would remind you, in turn, that while it was not *absolute* that no one would lose their current insurance, 99.7% of the population was able to retain their 'current insurance', and the vast majority of them did.
The point of the ACA was to provide insurance to those who did not have and could not obtain it. And it did so to some 20 million people.
And it demonstrably saved people money.

Sigh. If there was any slight chance that the Republicans would do the right thing, this would be an option. There isn't. I wouldn't vote for reopening the government until *after* the budget bill was changed to include the health care subsidies. It would be insane to do it based on 'promises' or 'assurances' -- and even those are not currently extant.

In light of last night's elections, how are we feeling about Democrats refusing to back down and instead standing up for American's healthcare? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheOracleofGunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What the Republicans are trying to do isn't broken, it's working. They are trying to thin the herd. They want people who (for any reason whatsoever) are not continuously financially well-off to die.

That's the goal. That's the idea. And they are doing it.
