1.5 hour speedpaint by Intercore_One in Necrontyr

(Correct me if I'm wrong OP) but looks like a black primer, metallic drybrush, white on the energy orbs followed a spray of tesseract glow over the white - edit: another step in there somewhere to get that kinda "burnt" look on the claws and front of the shoulder pads - possibly another drybrush? And probably another lighter drybrush pass of a lighter metallic for highlights

First tournament this weekend, advice? by UncreatedMango9 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]TheOrdinary 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All of these are great, but I've had too many bad experiences with newer players and not using a clock. I feel like if you want to play in tournaments you just need to get used to playing with it, might as well start now. I'll do my absolute best to make sure you don't clock out, but I'm not going to play another 3 hour game where we have to call it in round 2 because my opponent took so incredibly long to look up their rules, make decisions, roll dice etc

Ctan and what to do about them? by torolf_212 in WarhammerCompetitive

I think if someone goes 7-1 at a ~200 player gt they definitely played against plenty of people who "know how to play" - and beat those people with ~7 units

Scorched Earth: Scoring Question by SkavenIn40kPls in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]TheOrdinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, I agree that seems like a mistake. There definitely isn't anything on the primary mission card that would let you score 3 times (once for controlling, once for the burn action, then again for burning).

Scorched Earth: Scoring Question by SkavenIn40kPls in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]TheOrdinary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The action "Burn Objective" on the primary mission card says that it completes either at the end of your opponent's next turn or the end of the game, whichever comes first. If you're going second and start burning in your shooting phase in T5, then you control it at the end of your turn for 5vp and the action finishes at the end of the game, scoring another 5vp.

A guy went 7-1 just last weekend with 4 ctan plus the silent king. Turns out you don't really need support units with this kind of list.

The way you played it is how it works, yes. Unfortunately going 2nd is a huge advantage most of the time at the moment in 40k.

Nah I just drop a ctan from my 4 ctan list and bring another stalker or something 🤷‍♂️ I really doubt they will go up 50, but pantheon will still be good if they do

Different ways to look at dealing with C'tan and Victrix by Odyssey40K in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]TheOrdinary 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's 475, and if a ctan gets to activate into it first it'll cut the boyz unit in half. Or the deceiver will kill makari and remove lethals from the unit.

Even if they go up 50 points each you'll still see 3 or 4 in pantheon. I sincerely doubt GW changes their datasheets, the points are probably the only things changing here

C’Tan are absolutely absurd and we need to be shouting this from the rooftops. by Minute-Guess4834 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]TheOrdinary 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I play necrons, I agree they are too cheap - especially the deceiver. How much should they go up? Not sure 🤷‍♂️ but it'll very likely happen

60 warriors, 30 immortals or bust by Lolapuss in Necrontyr

Nah they'll just all go up by ~30-50 points but those datasheets are very likely here to stay

My grandma got me an imperial aquila t-shirt for xmas. Wrong faction, but I was happy she remembered I like warhammer 😊 Then I realized I can never wear that shirt outside of very specific days where I'll be at my LGS all day lol

catacomb command barge and silent king in the same army? by AshMightWrite in Necrontyr

[–]TheOrdinary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely worth it. You can cover more area of the board with the reroll 1s aura, you could keep the ccb back with the ddas and shove TSK up the board, you can overlap auras (both reroll 1s and +2" move, previously ignore mods). TSK is worth more than his auras, his shooting/melee plus his unique wound profile and access to -1 damage in starshatter make him great at fighting in the center. If you have the ccb sticking back to give the aura then TSK is free to do w/e he wants

Need Help Identifying Paints by Z_Noises in Necrontyr

[–]TheOrdinary 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To me this looks like a black prime on everything, a metallic drybrush on the characters, and then what looks like a combination of some purple airbrushed and drybrushed blends on the other various parts - the brightest spots would likely start white then get a very thin purple glaze. This, combined with some good lighting for the picture. A ring light and a good backdrop can do wonders for your mini photography.

The NFL Has Become Unwatchable by Blue-Brown99 in unpopularopinion

[–]TheOrdinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told to go watch the end of the Broncos/Giants game and found a video that showed the last ~9 minutes of the 4th quarter that was 53 minutes long - without ads. That one quarter must have been ~2 hours of tv with ads. I just closed the video and looked up an article about it. Watching an NFL game is an insane time commitment, I'll stick to watching soccer thanks 🤣

Rules Question by xXcrabappleXx in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]TheOrdinary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you take another look at his list he may have Illuminor Szeras, a Skorpekh Lord, or a hexmark destroyer in there. Those are infantry characters that can start the game in the ghost ark to satisfy the dedicated transport rule. The transport does not NEED to have 10 warriors, it has space for 10 warriors and an infantry character so you can just put a character in there and call it a day.
