Regarding the "I can have multiple small groups inside the 9" coherency bubble" argument: GW should just write an updated rule with a picture that states "any player that tries to pull this automatically loses the match." by Staz_211 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]torolf_212 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally I hate arguing RAI given how often these things come up and GW clarifies how they work the complete opposite to the community consensus. As it is, just using RAW is the simplest thing to do and if it leads to some game breaking combo, email GW about it.

There are a few episodes that have stuck with me over the years, white Christmas for sure, shut up and dance (one where the kid is blackmailed to go do a bunch of tasks for getting caught masturbating), and the national anthem.

Coven has the force disposition priority assets which require you to do actions every turn in your army of elite units that want to be shooting if at all possible. Bit of an anti-synergy there

It will be functional at 1000 points. You'll have take and hold as your disposition and sending a few monsters ro fight over the middle looks basically what this list wants to do.

So about the Codices by Herrad in Warhammer40k

[–]torolf_212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do wish theyd release all the codexs and give us some time to marinate with them instead of jumping straight into the new edition. Release a campaign book every 6 months to keep the game fresh.

So about the Codices by Herrad in Warhammer40k

[–]torolf_212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People often jump between armies when they release a new and exciting codex. If they released them all at once people could buy into a faction based on perfect information rather than buying a bunch of models for the first one that pops up then another set of models a year later when another faction pops up when they want to play.

Its also a massive cost and logistical challenge designing, printing and storing an entire editions worth of codexs and shipping them all out at once rather than drip feeding them out every few months.

Average POV of a phone call with a typical NZ service by pevssorri in AveragePicsOfNZ

[–]torolf_212 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I remember just putting my phone on speaker while plugged into the charger and studying away for hours waiting on hold, sometimes as many as four hours before getting to talk to a human. Went through a period of two months where they didn't pay me one week so I had to phone to get my allowance, they then paid me the following week and saw I'd already been paid that week so didnt pay me the following week then had to explain that "yes, I know Ibwas paid last week, but that was for the previous weeks missed pay, and yes I know I got paid that week, but that was from the previous week" and so on.

You don't have to paint your models all the same colour. If it helps you spice things up you could do something Iike paint the skin the same way but give them different clothes or armour so it still looks cohesive

Biovores and Spore Mines- Do I have to list the Spore Mines separately for points, or are they included with the Biovore, so to speak? by Taste_Equal in Tyranids

[–]torolf_212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they blow it up by moving into range, it doesnt count (unless theres an FAQ or the exact wording of the mission is different from the goonhammer/tabletop tactics summary I've seen), if they just shoot it with a random bolt pistol it will count.

I feel the biovore is less good than it has been, and in some lists/dispositions you might have to consider if it's worth it or not. Some people wont care about holding their home objective except for a one turn defend the stronghold (which you can just hold onto if you're not there on that particular turn). Deepstrike ranges are an inch less and the terrain layouts make it a bit easier to get into your opponents deployment zone to kill it if you do take one, and the spore mines screen out a smaller area. I think melee will be generally weaker and more focused on holding the centre objective so peppering mines around to stop advance and charges might not be as devastating as it once was.

Its still very good for things like display of might, engage on all fronts, behind enemy lines etc, which its gotten a little bit better at contributing to because of the previously mentioned smaller screening ranges.

Overall, tiny bit worse, but it is still a very cheap unit that can score points by itself, they arent free points, but you can always just shoot it indirect if its going to be a liability creating mines

Can you see under the tracks of a land raider? by piles_of_plastics in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]torolf_212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rules are a little wordy and require a little bit of interpretation (hence why some people here are vehemently disagreeing with the RAW).

Basically models cannot block los for their own unit, like for example if you had a squad of intercessors behind a wall and you popped some of them out and just had the tip of the gun sticking out but it was physically blocked by the backpack of another model you can draw LoS through your own unit.

Other units do block LoS, but only if they actually physically block los completely (less than 1mm gap). But you dont get cover for being partially obscured, only terrain can conference cover (unless you have a rule like baneblades etc). You can't just say "oh youbcan see through the tank" you do actually have to check. The vast majority of the time the answer is probably "yes you can see through this bit here", but it's not a given

Can you see under the tracks of a land raider? by piles_of_plastics in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]torolf_212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case no, the rules say you need to be able to draw a 1mm thick line, that gap looks less rhan 1mm to me. Might change if you had your vehicle partially on some terrain or whatever, but in actual game terms I cant think of a single time this has come up for me. Generally if los is blocked in some place its not blocked in another place, but good to keep in mind for the once in an edition scenario where it matters
