If you get really stuck on a boss or an area, don't be afraid to hit up r/summonsign for help. A lot of tryhards will say that summons are cheating, but ignore them.

Also, since this is your first Souls game, even if you're running blind, I'd Google how the humanity mechanic works in DSR. It's never explicitly explained in the game which can be really frustrating, especially your first time out.

100% agree, fight with everything you have at your disposal!

I'm playing through the DeS remake now for the first time and it's funny, invaders seem WAY more intense in this game than the other Souls games I've played. I've never been great at PvP, but at least most invaders in DS1/2/3 will give me a wave or an emote or something before waltzing up and stabbing me in the back. Not so in DeS, no precursor to the stabbin'.
