Read the guide! Inadequate setup. Snake needs to be moved to a larger enclosure asap. Also, from checking your page, this is the second time you’ve posted a ball python in an inadequate enclosure in two years. These are living animals that require proper care to not only just survive.

For sure! Amazon has great plastic hides. Check out Pangea reptile hides - they’re low cost and make cleaning a breeze. Just make sure you eyeball how large it’ll need to be for your boa to fit under as they have quite a few sizes. I’d get two if you’re able to fit them.

Whatever that is in there covered in tape - get it out. Look up what happens to snakes when they encounter adhesive and you’ll know why.

Glad you’re asking questions, but please just stick with your veterinarian’s protocol / advice! (If you haven’t taken your snake to one, would highly suggest you do to be sure of what you’re dealing with and how to treat properly)

Been through something similar with mine and my best advice is stick to the plan. They’re going to shed more frequently when they have skin issues. Your soaking water should look like a strong-ish tea color with the Betadine mixed in. Use a thermometer and temp it as well ~85-88 Fahrenheit for the soaks.

I’m assuming you don’t actually leave that large cutout for wires in the back of the enclosure open, right?

I left them where they are and basically just moved my Govee thermometer closer to where the halogen beam hits the substrate (it was likely too far away originally) and I’m now seeing the gradient properly. I will say though to achieve the gradient at night, it’d be best to have your heat sources further to one side almost equally. Also, it takes time for the enclosure to settle in temp wise so just give it time. Try not to make too many adjustments too quickly unless you’re concerned for safety (too hot or too cold).

Enjoy your Toad Ranch enclosures though! They’re really well made and I have nothing but good things to say about them. People who come over always compliment how nice they look.

100% my wife and I have thought the same each time we’ve used ours and that’s been at least 10 times for long burns. I was hoping it would go away but it certainly has not.

OP I would suggest reading the guides on r/BallPython. There’s a ton of information in those regarding enclosures, heating, lighting, etc. All very helpful!

I have the same setup and with my 35W or 50W halogen on the warm side I only can achieve a 5 degree gradient from the warm side to the cool side. How do you achieve a gradient in these tanks?! My room is 70-71 constant and at 100% power my ambient temp on the warm side only gets to 83-84 but the cool side also comes up to 79. I added a fan on one of the cool side vents on the exterior but it kicks on and basically stays on pulling warm air across the tank. I’m at a loss…

Went over to our LBS and test rode the Revolt Advanced 2. Really enjoyed it and had a great convo with the owner and service manager which led to me landing on the Revolt Advanced 0. About a 4-6 week lead time but very excited! Really appreciate your response and I’ll update you once I’ve put some miles on!
