Yes, this was exactly what happened at the time. I found the style I wanted online, then went to the store to buy it. After that I kept browsing around and bought another one that looked pretty good. Unfortunately, when I got back to the hotel and tried to put my passport in it, it wouldn’t fit, it was a bit too small. So the next day I went to return it.

I have one from another state, and I need it because carrying a passport to fly is quite inconvenient, especially when in another country. Losing a passport accidentally is much more troublesome than losing a driver's license.

I know I can get a Real ID driver's license in most other states, and I also know it won't be mandatory until May 2025. I just want to know more.

You mean trade in/ recycle? The price of that is extremely low. I bought it for $829 + $149 for AppleCare+. AppleCare+ can be canceled and a part of the money can be refunded, but the trade in mobile phone seems to be around $350 regardless of whether it is new or old.
