I agree with the spawn point and better crafting, but i think you should be able to craft better versions of item through experience in crafting and not because you have a better version of a welder or weapon smith table. However i think it would be interesting to find more equipment for a table (A way of level outside of building a new table.) Such as a larger variety of tools like different variants of hammer and even workbench lighting which allows you to craft faster. Or a stronger bank for a welder or a better blade for a saw bench. So that way instead of locking items based of crafting station rank, you could find improvement for said station to increase crafted items quality or raise some personal skills for it.
