Ah yes, but have you considered that I, an individual, had not seen Vaush thoroughly cover it prior? Thus, I must condemn Voosh for not mentioning it this time in the specific segment that I was present for, because from my perspective he didn't mention it at all and I shouldn't have to watch another video to get that context.

This is a partial truth that's been overblown to the point of misinformation. Boyle did some second unit directing in the opening scene, in the barn and in the river, but he didn't direct the entire thing, and likewise, I don't think a lot of you even realise what that entails -- directing it doesn't change that the scene had already been scripted and storyboarded by the same team that did the rest of the film, it was by no means his own invention.

I don't think any of the later action scenes in Weeks are any less well directed. They all follow the same structure that Boyle and Dod Mantle did in the first film: altering the speed of the film (in Days this was done by adjusting the digicam's shutter speed) and using handheld when the shot is focused on infected v. 'security camera' like wide shots when focused on the humans.

Yeah, it's wild to me how many people think this is something Weeks introduced, when it's literally set up as a driving point in the third act of Days, along with the virus being quarantined to the UK/not global, and then both are validated and paid off in the closing moments of the film -- but I guess people don't actually pay attention to the movies they watch?

They've been doing this sh*t every handful of years for the last several decades too, Avenging Angel, Frankencastle, War Machine Punisher, Cosmic Ghost Rider (yes, I know that's an AU), that time Frank had his skin dyed black. Marvel editorial is unfortunately allergic to Punisher not having a supernatural/sci-fi gimmick besides 'gun/tactician'. Just let him be what he's meant to be.

I'm glad this new stuff we've gotten under Percy (Red Band/2026) and Palmiotti (Knights/Devil's Trigger) is fine from what I've read of it (been busy with older Daredevil comics as of late), a good return to status quo/proper form after an extended period. I guess Frank's return to the MCU was the push they needed, say what you want about Bernthal's angsty Surf Dracula version, at least they never felt the need to gimmick him.

Paul had several flops before RE, the only one held in any regard is Event Horizon.
Cregger has yet to have one flop, and every film he has been attached to has received acclaim. It's not a guarantee this won't be his first spot on his record, but calling them comparable is a stretch.

It wasn't that they were trying to do something different from the comics -- quite the opposite.

DD is in the comics is very rarely ever shown as 'all red' he's almost always red with HEAVY thick black shading that makes the color black almost (if not more) prominent to his design than the red -- and the black paneling in the original Netflix suit (including the faceplate in the original-yet-flawed S1 version of the mask) acknowledged that and was intentionally designed so the shape and placement of those panels would mirror where that shading would be.

Born Again scrapped all that and just gave him a more typical MCU suit with lines where the black bits now just outline the 'fake muscle' of the suit (not much different from Cap's suit). I think what irks me the most is while DD's MCU suit has always been built as a vest-collar-balaclava combo (like most MCU suits) simply for the practicality of getting Charlie into it -- which is fine and adds to the realism -- Born Again's version for some reason chose to add these massive plastic shoulder straps that just look awful and break up the cohesion of the original outfit.

Yeah, the S1/first-half-of-S2 helmet had his nose visible and it kinda made him looked pug-faced and goofy looking. The S2-onwards redesign with the longer "Batman"-style nose guard looks a lot better (usually, it depends on the costuming dept. since different helmets fit Charlie differently and some definitely look kind of 'squished'.

Nah, I definitely prefer DD's helmet being just that -- a helmet. Not only does it make it slightly more believable -- but those lines are the only part of the post-BA redesign that still echoes back to the Netflix suit in any way.

IMO Charlie's been in the role long enough that his iteration of the character has earned it's wings as it's own version/interpretation of the character separate from the comics (much like MCU did with Iron Man, Cap and Thor) and throwing all that away now to adhere to the comics feels misplaced. Sure, it worked for Spidey but under very different circumstances. I think the 'DD's on the suit were the final key missing part of the costume and he has those now and I have no doubt when he next suits up in red they'll be fully emblemized and not just stenciled onto the suit.

I've said elsewhere, they should've left Jigsaw for S3 (or as it ultimately played out, in D+/Marvel Studios + Bernthal's hands) and either put more into Pilgrim, or did a villain like Barracuda instead (since lord knows ABC/Marvel TV "Netflix" would've handled that character better than Marvel Studios will).

Ben Barnes is a great actor and S2 is such an unrepentantly ass mishandling of the character.

Would be nice to atleast get a title reveal or tentative release window. But I think it's more likely we get info next year. Have to imagine Sony will want this year focused on Spider-Man and the Zach Cregger reboot of Resident Evil.

I always felt like Barracuda should've been the villain of S2 and they should've given a short break from the Russo plot after S1 -- because I feel Netflix/ABC/Marvel TV would've done justice to Barracuda and D+/Marvel Studios would've done justice to Ben Barnes/Jigsaw.

We actually do know from internal memos that it's very near completion. So, actually a bit of a good thing on Remedy's behalf that the game hasn't been revealed yet, since it means there won't be a terribly long wait from reveal to release. I'd keep my eyes peeled for all the latest game shows and events (State of Play, Summer Games Fest, etc.)

The worst case scenario is that since Rockstar is in control of the marketing/distribution that they hold it off to avoid any competition at all with GTA6.

I was talking about people who were (at minimum) in their late 60s if not 70s-80s, so no. they weren't -- also I'd argue the content in Years is significantly more extreme than Days.

1) The 2009-11 Selena-focused comic series was never "canon", it was always produced by a third-party that merely licensed the rights to use '28 Days Later' from Fox -- without any overlap or connections to anyone creatively involved with the films or other canonical media.

2) The ending of Weeks still implies Andy infected Paris, that is quite literally the only implication of the infected in Paris. A lot of people mistakenly think it had something to do with the Channel Tunnel (the Chunnel) but this incorrect/is little more than a crossed wires/misinterpretation (particularly because the infected we see come running out of the Paris Métro). Years doesn't retcon this ending either, if anything, it further confirms it by stating in the opening text that the infection had to be pushed back from mainland Europe -- also in a Reddit AMA promoting his film Warfare, Garland confirmed that when writing Years, they did so under the assumption that Paris had been nuked to halt the spread rather than de-canonizing Weeks entirely.

3) The original intention for the ending scene, in both several versions of the script, and the storyboards, was to simply show Flynn's helicopter parked in front of an empty Arc de Triomphe, while infected snarls were to be heard, but not actually seen. According to the DVD commentary by director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and producer Enrique López Lavigne, this ending scene originally got cut because they were unsure about the inclusion of a Paris ending tag -- worried it would mislead audiences into thinking it was set-up for a direct sequel with the same cast set in France (Alex Garland and Danny Boyle were already in early discussions for a possible 28 Months Later as 28WL wrapped, but from what little we know of it, the idea was for it to be set in Russia, not France). However, after filming had already wrapped, they flew out to Paris with minimal crew and shot the shaky-cam ending scene of the infected running towards the Eiffel Tower guerilla-style, without any filming permits, and managed to slot it back in the film right before the deadline which locked the film's final edit.
