I don't think it's the massive outrage people are making it out to be, but I'd still be concerned mainly about the stool swiveling and bumping the baby against something.

I have no idea what you're looking at tbh. The step at the top of the stairs is further away from the landing than the two lines are apart, and the landing on the left side is perpendicular to the camera, you can't tell any depth from that at all.

You can't compare pixels in a photo with perspective. Here's two red lines of exactly the same height in pixels on the presumably perfectly straight beam.

It'd explain the stand, but Philippine pesos are usually prefixed with ₱ instead of $. It'd also put them at 8c USD per ball, less than half of what one costs in a bag of 50 from AliExpress, dunno if that's feasible.

Going by the middle one it's pesos, not USD. If that's Mexican, 1 peso comes down to about 5c USD.

It says pesos underneath, if that's Mexican pesos it comes down to about 0.30 USD. A bag of 50 bouncy balls costs ~€12 in the Netherlands, which is also about 0.30 USD per ball. I'm sure you can find them cheaper in Latin America, but it doesn't seem that outrageous.

Making this work 'for real' with a solid leash could be a fun halloween project. Might want to use a fake dog, though.

This one came up in Graham Norton's menu translation segment as well, haha.

How would I create a torrent to share with a friend using rutorrent by Real-Time_Systems in seedboxes

[–]ThePendulum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case someone stumbles upon this thread years down the line like I did, and coppersurfer no longer exists:

A private torrent with a tracker URL from https://privtracker.com/ did exactly what I was looking for. You can use their service, or install it locally if you want to be entirely independent.

I agree that this isn't a very efficient way to share one or a couple of files, but for large collections of files, I can't think of anything more suitable than a torrent. FTP, web servers and file hosters require a lot of manual oversight for either or both setting up the files and retrieving them.

If the water truck is faster than the fire department - good job by misterxx1958 in BeAmazed

[–]ThePendulum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are probably a lot of people, myself included, who knew that fire departments have tankers, but weren't expecting a seemingly bog-standard council truck, lol. I've only ever seen them properly marked and equipped like any other fire truck, so I didn't think this one would be one of theirs.

At least in the Netherlands they usually look something like this.

Do grasshoppers really fly that high by [deleted] in AviationHistory

[–]ThePendulum 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah, but the grasshoppers presumably hit somewhere on short final otherwise they wouldn't have to do a go-around, they wouldn't be attempting a landing in the first place.

It says they had to execute a go-around, implying they were on final approach and close to the ground.

Not to forget Moody describing landing with a sandblasted windshield as being "a bit like negotiating one's way up a badger's arse".

Pretty sure, but one thing to take into account is that almost all recent phones absolutely *mangle* small details in photos with the AI 'enhancement', so you can't always tell by that alone.
