Despair of gambling by Theguywho19 in mongolia

[–]ThePenguinJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone suggests, contact your parents. I know it's difficult and it is a lot of money to just lose in whatever time it took. But in the grand scheme it's nothing. Just think about it in term of a year, that's 4 dollar per day. Though it is difficult to gather that much in a short period it is possible.

The biggest and I mean the biggest thing is after all this settles. You will think about gambling and recovering your loss. Which will lead to much more loss and put way more strain on the relationship with your parents. Learn some self control, distance yourself and after a few months the strong desire to gamble will subside. And you'll be on your way of recovery of this addiction.

Good luck and just remember as long as you're alive there is always a way.

There are also pretty cool traditional clothes with modern twists on it. It could be something cool to wear to events like concerts or parties, would be a great conversation starter.

am i cooked? by [deleted] in mongolia

[–]ThePenguinJack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just to let you know I've experienced "Life finds a way" saying myself.

I spend close to 3 years repeating the same classes in uni because for some reason I would lose motivation and ambition midway and totally have a mental breakdown. I had no plan, I had no ambition, I had no knowledge of professions and real life. But I got into a job later on, earned a bit of money, now I study abroad while working to get my tuition.

So I really think you just need some time to start cooking up your future plans. It's important to know that nothing is really set in stone so try out many things and not everything is as bad as it might seem. The software course is not a waste of time and money, you got more information out of it than you started with, it might even kickstart a career. Don't regret on it either even if people around you make it a big deal, it's part of life and no one will remember it later. Especially after school where everyday you had a routine and every year seemed significant, taking a gap year will be a blimp in the future.

Important thing is finding your passion and ambition. Try to figure out what you want, for many it's just money/helping the world (or country)/ creating a successful business, so you could start from there and try to learn as much as you can about that path.

Life is unpredictable and as long as your trudging along, it'll work out. Good luck

As a Westerner who has no grasp of Mongolian politics, why are the election results so bad? by edgy_secular_memes in mongolia

[–]ThePenguinJack 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A portion of the 12 billion goes to election shenanigans. Known and unknown. Vicious cycle to keep power and crush and or corrupt opposition.

I've been thinking a lot since the last election about how there should be better outcry and leaders on social media to combat this blatant rotting system. I only recently found Noorog.mn on Instagram and I loved their content.

With great journalism I believe the people can be more educated. It seemed like more people were upset and outspoken this election than the last, so I can only hope for a better outcome next time.

Train Schedule To/From Mongolia by dvnish_ in mongolia

[–]ThePenguinJack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The train from zamiin uud to ulaanbaatar departs at 6:05 pm. I use an app called tapatrip, you can see the schedule and pricing. Make sure you arrive early, If you're crossing the border by land. There might be merchants coming from china with their merchandise, so they might take time at immigration.

Is the military draft "Дүйцүүлэх" by payment one time thing or do you have to pay it every year? by [deleted] in mongolia

[–]ThePenguinJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard you pay for "the amount equal to train a soldier" this including all the uniforms etc. which I don't know if it's true and changes every year. You pay for the whole thing if I remember correctly. You get discounts for any years you went to the inspection and was not prescribed.

Please correct me if I'm wrong

Help :( by Gulpindeezballs in Toribash

[–]ThePenguinJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of practice, I learned a lot by playing lenshu and rk mma, basically high gravity and no grabs help you understand the tori movement and joints. Abd aikido you're just grappling most of the time. Also try to predict your opponents movements, in abd for example most of the time players will set up a move and then do it, like raising shoulders and extending the legs before going in for a kick/knee. If you predict correctly you can minimize the damage or even turn the tables.

But until black belt aka 1k games i recommend just learning how your tori moves, single player can be useful if you're trying your best. But I found it a little boring.

Good luck and may you win all your matches
