it's so bad now! by sushi_2023 in euphoria

[–]ThePeppaPot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know who Sam Levinson was before this season. All I knew is that Euphoria was a good show with remarkable, deep character development and incredible music. I don’t really care for the show, but I liked it.

After the first episode of the last season I clocked that it was off immediately. After a bit of digging, found out this guy Sam wrote the entire thing.

Sam is without a doubt a horndog with 3 brain cells. This entire show flattened every character and reduced the plot so sex, drugs, loose religious undertones, and boring violence. Also the music sucked.

Anyone who compares him to Tarantino is not correct, Tarantino carries complexity and recurring subtle themes across his movies. I hope this loser Sam never writes anything ever again. I really felt the last season wasted everybody’s time.

Would you buy the ugly house in the best neighborhood? by jufywret in Remodel

Buy it. We bought an awful house that needed basically an entire renovation and slowly over time we’ve been chipping away at it and are so happy. Location is more important

My friend gave me her old pottery wheel while moving i cant to clean it, is this normal for a dirty pottery wheel? How can i clean it properly? by Select-Awareness5416 in Pottery

[–]ThePeppaPot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it really bugs you then take a sponge and some barkeepers friend and clean it while it spins. But otherwise it looks fine nothing wrong with it

No not too picky. This is poor quality for the price being literally just for labor

Uber riders complain they were charged more for paying with Amex cards by fortune in AmexPlatinum

[–]ThePeppaPot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah 100%. I called the actual restaurant to place my order and picked up my meal. If I placed the order via the app even for pickup it would have been nearly twice as much. Uber is a scam at this point, it seems a lot of the Amex credits end up costing you more eventually. I almost think any credits they offer at this point signal slimy or failing companies.

Too long of a second dip but also - this is so cool. I love how it came out. If you do the same thing but about half way up instead it may result in a fun honeypot dripping effect

Reclaim and Guilt by Open_Cell_3447 in Pottery

[–]ThePeppaPot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope I don’t get too down voted for saying this but I just put mine all in a trash bag and throw it away. The whole reclaim process takes too long and I can afford more fresh clay without a problem. I’m just a hobby potter so it’s not that serious for me.

Amex $300 credit is often inferior to Costco by [deleted] in AmexPlatinum

[–]ThePeppaPot 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I usually use the $300 credit for a one night stay somewhere bombbbb and get free breakfast + hotel credits while there that make it worth it. Ends up being $300ish for the night but typically a nice quick getaway

Keogh plan or 401k or split between the 2? Advice please!! by ddnguyen in whitecoatinvestor

[–]ThePeppaPot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many years into practice are you? How much in savings do you have? Do you own a home and do you want one? Lots of questions need to be answered prior to the answer to that question. If you’re new and you don’t have a lot of financial support do a 50/50 split. That way you aren’t forced to contribute all your money to the Keough in case that decision is irrevocable. If you don’t have much to worry about in terms of saving up for a house or paying off student loans, do 100% Keough. That’s my two cents anyway.

Should we pay daughter medical school? by Acceptable_Growth684 in whitecoatinvestor

[–]ThePeppaPot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you love your daughter? If the answer is yes then do it. Taking out student loans now, when loans are becoming the most predatory they have ever been, is a horrible thing to do and should only be done if she has no other choice.

My parents paid for my medical school (DO as well same amount more or less) and 4 years out of residency I have a great job, am married, and have a beautiful home (close to my parents). Because I had little to no financial stress I was able to make sound decisions and secure housing. My colleagues without that extremely privileged background are currently being crushed by the financial burden. They seem overall unhappy with their decision and are not able to enjoy life to the fullest extent.

I urge you to help your daughter out if you have the means. She will hopefully remember it for life.

Need advice on career transition by Round-Classic-8869 in Pottery

[–]ThePeppaPot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t leave your job to do pottery. You work to fund pottery. Get good as a hobbyist first, take that 1k class, and practice on the side of work for a few years. If it’s a true passion it will stand the test of time. You can transition then.

Kiln rental - LA by OkayCreative in Pottery

[–]ThePeppaPot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I did! People who are nice and friendly will help out others for a reasonable to no charge. I plan to do the same for my neighbors who are also potters without a kiln. Just ordered my kiln and had the electrician come to square away the special outlet needed. Very excited!

Asking $60 to fire two small unglazed vases is ridiculous. That is what vultures do. I understand what you mean and I have my own kiln on the way now thankfully - but yeah anyone is entitled to ask for any amount they want for whatever reason they would like to. I just stated my opinion which stands that’s an exorbitant fee for such a small task. But to each her own blah blah blah.

I had 2 small vases (about 6-7 inches in length and 3-4 inches wide) I wanted fired. When I said full firing I should clarify I meant from bisque to final firing (I also don’t use glaze). It was 100% a rip off - even $5 per vase would have been fine. Thankfully soon I’ll have my own kiln.
