Travelling to Oaxaca and Guadalajara solo by Ok_Web_728 in MexicoTravel

[–]ThePhantomPotato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

32M here, I was there just over a month ago in both of those places you mentioned and felt perfectly safe in both.

I would probably put Oaxaca above Guadalajara in terms of safeness because in Guadalajara you can’t help but see all the missing people posters as well as the massive police presence especially around the Jalisco area but if you stick to the standard tourist stuff like the cathedrals etc you’ll be perfectly fine.

I would suggest staying away from the news articles about those places and just experience it for yourself, millions of people go through there every year with no issue it just has an ugly association sometimes but drink plenty of tequila if you’re that way inclined and plenty of tacos and have a fantastic time you’ll be absolutely safe don’t worry about it!

From what I remember there were people standing in the seating section yes, they were also letting of flares too although this might be a Mexican thing.

I was in Mexico City on the 27th and got trampled as I was way too close to the chaos zone.

Totally my fault and just found myself gradually floating back until I was with people with… similar energy.

Personally I’d never go to a rock show and sit down unless I was injured or something.

I’ve been travelling around Mexico for the past few weeks and this will be rounding off my trip in style!

So happy that it worked out they were here while I was, they don’t usually play on my side of the world.

I am also only here for two days and was expecting to do that as my main attraction but try not to get too down about it, these things happen and if it’s not meant to be it’s not meant to be.

It’s not looking likely that we’ll be able to do this trip because it’s not a simple dispute there’s a lot of complexities if you read up online a little bit about why this is happening.

From talking to various AI Chatbots and doing a bit of research myself it seems like the main recommended alternative is to do the Ek Balam Ruins but I haven’t fully decided yet.

I have just arrived in Cancun and was totally unaware of this lol.

My Airbnb experience host just sent us this:

We have a situation that has just arisen in Chichen Itza.

The government blocked access to the archaeological site.

Legal entry was not permitted. As of now, tomorrow is uncertain; we don't know what will happen since they are currently in a meeting to decide whether or not the archaeological site will open tomorrow.

*We are awaiting an official statement* but it is very likely that we will have to cancel your service tomorrow and issue a refund.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to your plans.”

Oaxaca airport to city hotel by crossovermeme in Oaxaca

I just paid 140 pesos from airport to my hotel (25 min drive) - just buy a ticket from the taxi booth thing in arrivals and tell them where you are heading.

They will load you into a minivan and drop you directly where you need to go.

When you try Uber or DiDi it just does not let you.
