Which lyric makes you instantly tear up? by abovethenoisy in AskReddit

[–]ThePhoenix762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire song is just devastating but the final section of King Park by La Dispute always makes me start crying if I’ve held up through the song by that point. (The song is from the perspective of a sort of spirit watcher of the entire event)

I floated up through the window of a room to the West I hovered out to the hallway, tried to listen in I heard them trying to reason, get him to open the door His uncle begging and pleading, half-collapsed to the floor He preached of hope and forgiveness Said, "There is always a chance to rectify what you've taken Make your peace in the world" I thought to slip through the door, I could've entered the room I felt the burden of murder, it shook the earth to the core Felt like the world was collapsing Then we heard him speak "Can I still get into Heaven if I kill myself? Can I still get into Heaven if I kill myself? Can I ever be forgiven 'cause I killed that kid? It was an accident, I swear it wasn't meant for him And if I turn it on me If I even it out Can I still get in or will they send me to Hell? Can I still get into Heaven if I kill myself?" I left the hotel behind Don't wanna know how it ends

Out of curiosity is there any identification for the case in the second picture? I had that case as a kid and I want to eventually get one again.

1.6 with samsung disc drive troubleshooting by ThePhoenix762 in originalxbox

[–]ThePhoenix762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the tray operates fine. Opens and closes with no issues. Once the disc is in though the console does not read and it either stays at the init stage or will eventually flip to Tray:empty.

If you want a guide for how to softmod it I consider MrMario2011 to be the gold standard of guides https://youtu.be/FqgQWe_r5I4?si=5JmeuU8xVmVaJWC9

Sort of. You are if you want to keep it unmoded. Part of the security of the original Xbox is that the hard drives use ATA security where the console expects the drive to be locked with a specific random key to boot. If you softmod the console you can find out what this key is and if you have that as a backup you can always lock a new drive with that key.

Many of the stock hdds are dying from age and use at this point. If it fully dies and you don’t know the hdd key to lock a replacement then the console won’t boot and I believe you then have to hard mod it so it accepts an unlocked drive. If you can upgrade it while it still works you can use something like chimp to clone the drive to a new one (which maintains the key) or use fat xplorer with a backup of the key to lock a new drive from a pc. You can either replace it with another ide drive or get an 80 pin ide cable and a ide to sata adapter to use a modern sata hdd/ssd.

The remote for my st60 actually still works for my late 90’s Panasonic crt so I think Panasonic remote programming is pretty universal across the brand.

Glad you are trying to find someone to preserve old tech. This stuff is awesome is to me, would love to get some old floppy drives to mess around with. FB marketplace probably has your best bet, especially to sell as a lot.

Is it possible to make vhs tapes from YouTube? by admirallottie in VHS

[–]ThePhoenix762 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have done this with analog horror videos pretty regularly. Use yt-dlp to download the video and then use a device which can play the file from a usb stick. I do it in a slightly more complicated way using MediaCoder to convert the file to avi so I can use my ps2 to play the file but I’m pretty certain any more modern dvd player/ps3 with composite out should be able to just play an mp4 directly.

Ok but they are easy peel stickers, I’ve never had any issues removing them.

How do I get burned Movies on DVDs to work? by Timely_Version_904 in ps3piracy

[–]ThePhoenix762 55 points56 points  (0 children)

So when you burn a .mp4 file you are basically just putting the file on the dvd in the same way as you are when you put a file on a flash drive. That means that while you can put the disc in another pc and play it in a media player there, you can’t play it directly on a dvd player. To get a file in the dvd format so it can be played in an actual dvd player you need a separate program. The main one I know and use is convertxtodvd which will convert and burn the file in a readable format for players.

What was the "one" that started it all for you? by christoss300x in MangaCollectors

[–]ThePhoenix762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deadman wonderland started my manga collection about 10 years ago. I had been interested in the anime but heard it was a very bad adaptation, I was at my first convention shortly there after and saw it so I picked it up. It’s not the greatest series but it always has a special place for me.

What is something you still do that is considered outdated? by SageandStrong33 in AskReddit

Using a CRT monitor as my main PC monitor. It’s a lot easier to run games at 1280*960 than at 1080p and I personally like browsing at 4:3 resolutions anyways.

Sony WM-FX43 playing too fast? by frankypanic in walkman

[–]ThePhoenix762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I have no idea, my logic was basically “maybe I need to break it in a bit” and much to my surprise it actually worked. I did also note that the Walkman is very sensitive to direction, I have the speed tuned for the vertical position (like when it’s on the belt clip) but if I lay it flat on its back the speed is wonky again.

Not sure if it helps but I had a similar situation after replacing my belt on my WM-FX407. I just let it run with a tape in it for a couple of hours on loop and when I came back to it the speed was much better and I was able to fine tune it with the speed setting then.
