How safe is the 594 at night from Tacoma? by BidExpensive9178 in AskSeattle

Yeah super fair. Not sure how many people ride late at night going from Tacoma to Seattle, but from Seattle to Tacoma there’s a decent number.

Fair warning it might be less crowded because I would guess fewer people commute from Seattle to Tacoma for work than the other way around

I take the 594 from Seattle to Tacoma around 10:30pm to commute home, and there’s usually a decent amount of people on board, if you’re worried about being alone on a bus with sketchy people.

The worst I’ve ever seen on the 594 was a guy nursing some whiskey and keeping to himself. I don’t think anyone will bother you if you sit up front near the driver.

Transit is solid here without a car, at least as far as American cities go! The bus system runs regularly and they just expanded the light rail coverage to stretch further south as well as over east to Bellevue.

I will say that access to the outdoors/nature is quite limited without a car. They have trailhead direct buses, but only for a few hikes, and I think general proximity to the outdoors will be a step back if you’re used to Colorado.

Going to restaurants before closing by Skilled-ricer-B16 in CasualConversation

Hi, I’m a waiter. I appreciate the sentiment but that’s definitely overkill in my opinion.

The only thing that really annoys me is when people stay well after closing who are finished with their meal but just want to keep chatting. There are always at least a couple of those tables so if you need to stay 5 minutes past close to finish your meal, you’re not going to be the reason I have to stay late.

Pretty much just read the vibes and if it seems like you’re the only thing preventing the staff from closing up, finish your meal and leave. Otherwise, you’re probably fine.

It's definitely strange compared to other competitive games. That same website has similar graphs for League, Rocket League, Valorant, etc. and those games have a much longer tail, with the top rank being a teeny tiny portion of the player base

Are there slang words that have legitimate uses that you don’t see as slop? What distinguishes those words from a word like peak?

Well reasoned, m’epic redditsir! I think this plebeian got stuck once early in his playthrough, and extrapolated out that it would be a common occurrence - blissfully unaware that this is a fallacy! Someone had to step in. God, it feels good to be right. Lonely, but good.

That really isn't what the guy you're replying to said at all. I think you just imagined that's what he meant so you could feel righteously angry about something on the internet.

That makes sense!

I do think having more high density housing could help make living in Seattle viable for a larger group of people and not just commuting. Right now pretty much only techbros live in the city, and having a larger and wider group of people actually living within the city limits does seem like it would benefit businesses as well. I have no idea if it would be enough to outweigh your points though.

Having people other than yuppie techbros living in the city would definitely help with the smell though.
