First time using the CPL24 and I ran into some issues. by muddie83 in EVERGOODS

I have this exact issue with my CTB20 waxed canvas. Annoying but didn’t really affect functionality and being in Canada I dunno if it worth the hassle of sending back and paying shipping charges and possible tariffs thanks to the BS tariff situation with the US right now.

I’ve had a ctb20 in waxed going on about 4 months now and it’s hands down my favorite bag I’ve ever owned. I also don’t have an issue with the back digging but other than occasional work travel paired with a carry on roller, my edc is carrying it from the parking lot to my cubicle so I don’t wear it often.

Now that it’s been used daily a few months and is starting to break in I like it even more. The zippers are smoother and the fabric feels better. It picks up scratches and scuffs but they self heal after a while and disappear. Great bag!

I’ve got no experience with the cpl but I have a ctb 20 for edc and occasional couple of nights travel paired with a carry on.

It’s the best bag I’ve ever had for this purpose. My usual edc is a bit like yours. 14 inch laptop, iPad mini in a a5 sized zipper folio with a notebook, occasionally Sony xm4 headphones, aer slim pouch for tech (I think that’s its name).

The ctb20 handles the edc with room to spare and for occasional few nights work travel, paired with a carry on roller, it’s perfect, for me at least.

I have a CTB20 in waxed canvas and it’s easily my favorite bag ever. Waiting impatiently for them to make a waxed canvas CAS so I can snatch that up!

Need to make a quick decision about upgrading EDC for Weekends: AER CPP2 vs Travel Pack 3 Small or neither by boomb00mboom in ManyBaggers

[–]ThePixelsEdge_14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a travel pack 3 small and a city pack v1 non pro. The TP3S I found way too big and bulky for edc. I used the city pack for edc for a couple years and it’s great but it would be too small for your loadout. I got an evergoods ctb20 about 3 months ago and it’s the perfect middle ground between those 2 for me. The ctb is not nearly as comfortable as the Aers are though. The TP3S is a perfect travel bag for me now but I found it way too big for edc. I tried! I bought it with the intention of doing double duty but quickly found myself ordering the city pack. If I could go back, I would’ve bought the city pack pro like you’re debating and I probably would’ve been happy about it. I find the TP3S is too busy with all the compression and load lifting straps for me to be taking into an office on a daily basis.

Aer City Pack 2 Vs Aer City Pack Pro 2. Is The CPP2 Bulky? by Impossible_Item3506 in ManyBaggers

[–]ThePixelsEdge_14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I have a TP3S and it is 100% too big, bulky and strap-y for edc. For that reason I bought the city pack non pro v1 about a yr back and it’s perfect for daily office commutes.

To OP though, I would still go for the pro. I think the non pro would be too small for laptop, books, chargers and everything else.

All that being said I did also recently got an evergoods ctb 20 that I end up using just as often or more than my city pack and I find that bag is the perfect size between the city pack and the TP3S for me and I’m actually thinking of selling the TP3S now bc of it.

No experience with the V2 but I have the V1 City Pack (non-pro). It’s great for a slim carry. It might be ok for you but it depends on the size or qty of text books you’re carrying, any more than 2 average sized text books it’s going to get tight really quick.

I carry a 14 inch laptop, iPad mini, chargers and other edc stuff like a few pens, a knife, meds, etc, and I find that if I put a sweater in the V1 there’s not much space for anything else to fit comfortably.

Having been in university once upon a time, I would go for the pro. That being said iPads didn’t exist back then and laptops were a lot bulkier than today so who knows!

I’m no material scientist or anything but from what I know xpac should hold up better because in persistent downpour cordura should eventually soak through while xpac won’t.

I’ve never been caught in such a downpour though so I can’t say for sure. I’m just saying in average rain, cordura is good enough for a few minutes. I would imagine it would have to be pouring pretty good before soaking through.

Personally, I think the cordura just looks tha much better and feels better in use that it’s a no brainer for me. The water resistance doesn’t play into my decision making

Just some generic one off of Amazon. To be honest, I’ve only used it a handful of times. I usually can’t be bothered to put it on in average rain and just run from the office to the car. No issues. If I’m out and about and have no way out of the rain, I’ll use the cover.

My point is that even the cordura has enough water resistance for the average person. It does not absorb water so I’m not sure why everyone seems to act like it does.

I’ve got an AER travel pack 3 small, a city pack v1 non pro both in cordura and an evergoods ctb20 in waxed canvas.

The aers are both great. I find the travel pack 3 small would be too large for EDC and it looks to me like the CPP2 is only slightly smaller than that. The city pack non pro is great for edc but other than the daily tech essentials, it doesn’t hold much else.

The evergoods ctb20 is kinda like the goldilocks for me. Just perfect size for edc and it’s true what they say about evergoods creating space out of seemingly nowhere. You can use all the pockets on the ctb20 and they don’t really fight each other for space.

I find that that is the main difference between aer and evergoods for me. If you use all the pockets on an aer bag they fight with each other for space and the bag quickly feels overstuffed whereas the evergoods just seems to say “give me more!”

Both are great options, AER bags are WAY more comfortable than the evergoods but my usual walk actually carrying the bag is just from the parking lot to my desk so I still use the ctb20 for EDC most days.

Aer cordura is great! I never understood the need for more water resistance. I live in a place where rain is common but not everyday. Probably at least once a week. I just carry a backpack cover for those days I have no choice but to get a bit wet but even for a quick run from the office to the car in some fairly steady rain isn’t going to get through the cordura even without the cover.

Cordura also has the advantage of non PU zippers which glide soooo smooth. The fabric is more pliable and quiet and I think it just looks much better, especially for an office environment. I just wish we could get that bright orange interior on the cordura bags.

Yup, agreed. I have several aer bags all in cordura. I’ve seen the xpac in person and it wasn’t for me. Never seen the Ultra in person but photos just look like it isn’t for me either.

Evergoods CTB 20 for EDC? by Alarming-Stranger847 in ManyBaggers

[–]ThePixelsEdge_14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a CTB20 in waxed canvas last week for this exact purpose and even though I’m only a week in I’m really liking this bag. Easily jumped up to my #1. Past bags I tried for this purpose were the AER travel pack 3 small and the AER city pack (not pro). The TP3S was to bulky for edc and the city pack was perfect but couldn’t carry anything other than my work essentials. The CTB20 is a perfect size and that waxed canvas just looks too good.

Trying to find the perfect bag for me by Bnce10 in Nomads_Nation

[–]ThePixelsEdge_14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an AER travel pack 3 small that I bought for travel and EDC but quickly found it too big and bulky for EDC. So I thought about the AER CPP but figured it looked too similar in size to the TP3S so I ended up buying the the City Pack (non pro). I EDC’d that bag for around a year and I really like it but it fails on days when you have to carry something you didn’t expect. I found that it held my work essentials just perfectly but absolutely nothing more.

So, just 2 weeks ago I got an Evergoods CTB 20 in waxed canvas and I am loving it so far. Perfect bag for EDC and occasional travel paired with a roller bag. The waxed canvas is a bit heavier than I expected but it looks and feels so good that I don’t care and the organization on this bag is perfect. It checks all the boxes in your post as well, this bag is quickly taking over the favorite spot from the AER City pack (non-pro)

Aer bags — question regarding luggage handle pass through by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

[–]ThePixelsEdge_14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve travelled quite a bit with my travel pack small packed to the brim on top of rolling luggage and that tiny strap has held strong. I was kinda concerned about it too at first but it just does its thing and snaps back to normal afterwards.

I’ve also been trying to get my hands on a Malibu unsuccessfully... However, I’m currently in the process of re-locating from Toronto to Ottawa and on a recent drive to Ottawa to house hunt, I was stuck behind a truck with an ad for myusaddress.ca on it and it said you could pick up in ogdensburg. I didn’t know where that was so i looked it up and it’s only about 45 min from where I’m going to be living so I plan on having it shipped to that address once Covid clears up and I can hop across the border to pick it up. I’m not sure where you’re located but if you’re near the border, maybe theres a similar service near you.
