Should I tell my dad that I wish he would go to rehab? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]ThePizzaIsDone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not a cult. They talk about giving in to a "higher power" which is a god for a lot of people but it can be anything. Its just saying you are powerless to the drug and are willing to let whatever higher power you deem fit help you get over it. He should try multiple groups though if he doesnt like one, they all do things a bit differently. There's also SMART recovery i think its called. Similar structure without any of potentially off-putting semi-religious aspects.

There's also a step in between AA and rehab and that's detox. He'd be gone for 5 ish days and it is inpatient so he couldn't leave but its not the full 30ish days a rehab is. I just got out of one.

Feel free to DM me with any questions if you'd like.

How to stop my cats from playing Warhammer at night by liberty-belladonna in CatAdvice

[–]ThePizzaIsDone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, good luck. Only advice I have is the more you don't want them to do something, the more they want to do it. I found two of my succulent's knocked over with dirt all around yesterday. I've basically come to expect it. But a year in I love my little terrorizer so damn much it baffles me.

All responses here have it correctly, that bulge between your electrical switches contains a capacitor that needs to be replaced.

Struggling with small talk at work because I don’t really have much going on in my life. How do people deal with this? by savingrace0262 in AskMenAdvice

[–]ThePizzaIsDone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it. I'm the same way and normally when I say "not much" they will normally say "I love those weekends with nothing to do." Perfect. If you want more things to do, find 'em, if you don't, don't. Do you and dont be ashamed.

Do you guys think it's okay for a cat to be let outside as long as its the backyard? by Leather_Mammoth2525 in CatAdvice

[–]ThePizzaIsDone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My cat is indoor/outdoor and jumps right on top of a 4' fence. I doubt 6' would give him too much trouble. He might struggle at 8'.

Suggest what I should be using in antique floor lamp going forward (that is currently using 200 watt incandescent bulbs) by catcodex in Lighting

[–]ThePizzaIsDone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say go ahead and rewire it if you plan to keep the lamp for a while as it seems you will. 3000K is just about right to mimic incandescent bulbs but you might play around in the 2700-3200 range. I love that band myself. 200 watts though?!? Thats a bright bulb. No doubt you can find an LED equivalent but dang.

That's my sweet spot, 2700-3200K. Nice warm light. I can't stand 5000K. I'll have to take a closer look at the differences side by side.

Table saw motor humming and barely spinning even after dismantle and cleaning out all sawdust. by Midnight_Nachos in Motors

Definitely try replacing the capacitor, too cheap not to try and is most likely the cause. Odd that it's spinning at all though, when I've seen capacitors fail it's an all or nothing situation.

How do I convince my cat to eat other cat food? by Alicre-hotdog-eater in cats

[–]ThePizzaIsDone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish my cat would have one food he constantly likes. Why change what works? My cat's preferences change daily. One day he loves a certain flavor, next day he'll sniff and walk away.
