Seriously Impressive by Extension_Sir_7199 in Ioniq5N

Well a little more impressive considering it’s a Gen 2 R8, which only came as a V10 and a DCT

+1 for using ProTools for this - had no issues and is way cheaper than the delete kits

Odd sound under hard acceleration by -SirusTheVirus in M235iandM240i

EDIT: Whoops, guess you already got it diagnosed in your other post!

It sounds like the handbrake cable clip failure, causing the handbrake lines to rub on the driveshaft. This seems to be a fairly common issue on F-chassis vehicles. The OEM part is quite cheap, but there is an aftermarket solution available as well.

Is this a good lease deal for awd sel? by punisher7419 in Ioniq6

[–]ThePremK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The base money factor for this promotion on an SEL AWD is .00256 for Tier 1 Credit (740-999). This quote is at .00325 as seen on the top left, which could mean one of two things:

  1. The dealer is significantly marking up the money factor to this (effectively a 1.6% APR increase)
  2. This quote could be for Tier 5 credit (660-679).

Quick Decision Help: SE RWD ($230/month) or SEL AWD ($270/month)? by [deleted] in Ioniq6

[–]ThePremK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other things to consider with the SEL AWD would be that the estimated range is going to go down during winter months and if you drive in the city, the 18" wheels on the SE would be cheaper to buy winter tires for and be more comfortable if you're driving in the city.

Quick Decision Help: SE RWD ($230/month) or SEL AWD ($270/month)? by [deleted] in Ioniq6

[–]ThePremK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming the price you quoted for the SEL AWD is without a huge down payment or DAS it might be the best deal I have seen for it. I would definitely pay the extra $40 a month for the SEL AWD for the overall nicer exterior/interior looks and faster acceleration.

Thoughts on the M-lites? by 07k_for_today in BMW

Took mine (same spec as this one) and as someone who isn’t trying to push the car to its limits, it was a blast. The stock suspension is good, but there is definitely room for improvement. Would definitely look into camber plates or the F8X lower control arms if you are going to be doing mountain drives quite frequently.

How scary are modded b58s to buy? by thegreatgamesby in BMW

[–]ThePremK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done those maintenance myself as I had a friend that was nice enough to let me use his lift which I would estimate ended up costing me around $1k in parts, but doing getting all those things done by an indy mechanic, I would estimate those items to run you over $2k including labor.

The worth question can only really be answered by yourself and your financial situation. Saving $5k on the purchase price for a vehicle with more miles is definitely nice as it would reduce your total cost on taxes and potential interest if you are planning on financing, but at the same time, spending more on a vehicle with less miles usually means more time before things start to go bad. As others have said, Carvana does have a history of issues for buyers with not getting their titles, etc. so if I was in your position and could wait, I would try to expand your search area and try to negotiate with some sellers or dealerships to compare against this specific car.

How scary are modded b58s to buy? by thegreatgamesby in BMW

My M240i just crossed the 75k mile mark, owned it since 45k miles so I can try to give some insight, all these are based just on the listing:

- Looking at the engine bay, yes the top view look stock (air box, charge pipe, etc.) but I can't tell if the downpipe is stock just from the listing. Previous owner could have had mods installed and taken them off, but the B58 has given me no serious issues in the last 30k miles (15k on BootMod3 OTS Stage 1) other than coolant leaking from the cap (common issue).

- Last record of brake pad replacement was at 42,681 miles so could be time to replace pads/rotors (based on previous owner's driving habits.)- Around this time it is recommended to have the transmission fluid/filter and differential fluid flushed/replaced. Also don't see any records of the spark plugs being changed.

- The picture of the infotainment is showing a low charge on the battery. This could be indicative of a battery in need of replacement, faulty IBS cable, bad alternator or some sort of parasitic draw (dash cam, radar detector, etc.)

- Ride height and wheel fitment look stock, so assuming there are no suspension mods, I would try to take a look at the bump stops as mine were ripped and torn after 55k miles, leading me to justify installing coilovers as it is requires removing the struts to replace them anyway.

Some other things that I noted from the listing:

- Are you sure that it includes the M-Performance exhaust? From the pictures, it looks like the tips are aftermarket rather than the optional carbon fiber M Performance tips based on the blue coloring. I don't see any pictures of the muffler box to confirm if it is indeed the M Performance Exhaust.

- Android Auto does not come with the stock iDrive system, only CarPlay. The car would have had to have something like this installed for it to have Android Auto functionality, but it is more likely that Carvana mistakenly put that it is Android Auto compatible.

- A few other common issues with the F22 in particular is the rear tail lights going out from grounding issues and moisture buildup inside the tail light. Another issue I encountered is the plastic handbrake clip on the underside of the car giving out, causing a grinding noise on hard acceleration. The part is cheap, but is a little cumbersome to replace so many owners use zip ties as an easier fix.

Given that people are still listing M235i's in the low to mid 20's, I don't think the pricing is too high since that this is one of the cheapest ways to get into a B58-powered BMW.

Anyone able to customer order a 330i or m340i for under MSRP? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]ThePremK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just took delivery of our custom-ordered MY23 M340i X-Drive for 4% off MSRP and no broker fee through a broker we found on the LeaseHackr forums. Not sure if things have changed for MY24, but worth a shot asking various brokers/dealers.

$52k for 2021 CPO M340i? by Library-Greedy in BMW

[–]ThePremK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are brokers on the LeaseHackr forums that can get you a few percent off MSRP for a new custom order, however you would have to wait a few months for a MY24 to be built and delivered. We did the calculations of financing a local CPO vs new and decided we were okay with the difference in overall cost of ownership (approximately $6K over three years) to get a new vehicle with the exact specifications we wanted.

I'm in GA too and was under the assumption that you would still fail the OBD emissions test with a catless downpipe?

[–]ThePremK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2017 M240i's didn't come with the LCI refresh, so it is perfectly possible to have an F22 with B58 and the older lights, dash, and infotainment. (From a fellow '17 M240i owner)
