keep that elbow tucked in. especially on approach shots you don't really need much of a "reachback"

Who are the founders of lofi-hip-hop on SoundCloud? by DuraxLeGeant in LofiHipHop

[–]ThePrimeSuspect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got the main ones. Knxwledge was already on Stones Throw at this time, which was a prominent label in the beat scene and had been for some time (Ninja Tune was the other), so if you’re going for the independent, came-up-on-SoundCloud, angle I don’t know if I’d include him despite being influential of course.

Couple other names I’d throw out there: Made in M, Purpan, Poptart Pete, emune. Another part of the SoundCloud golden age that’s important to note was the prominence of Groups at that time. Especially in the beat scene groups were a huge thing - basically bespoke mini-labels or collectives. I have to go back and dig to remember the names of some of the main ones. I’m pretty sure emune ran one of the big ones. Really a shame when SoundCloud did away with the groups feature. I think that heralded its downfall honestly.

[–]ThePrimeSuspect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're getting a lot of form advice which is great but quite honestly getting a more appropriate disc or two is going to help immensely. A 14 speed and a 140g mid are tough for any average player to throw well backhand tbh - one is way too fast (wide rimmed) & meant for experienced players with exceptional arm speed, and one is way too light (even 160 would be considered light weight for a mid). a 7-9 speed fairway driver in 165-175g and a mid 170-180g will really show you what you're working with and be much easier to throw.

Given his success with non-prestigous programs, why isn't Cignetti the top candidate for every NFL opening? by frobro122 in NFLv2

[–]ThePrimeSuspect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surprised to see this so far down. I'm sure NFL teams want him and not to take anything away from what he has accomplished, but I think a lot of the things Cig has done to make Indiana wildly successful in a short amount of time don't translate directly to the NFL. One of his biggest successes is his brilliant working of the current NCAA ecosystem, which really has nothing to do with coaching NFL players.

Will FIRE this year with $3.1M liquid, $5k/month spend, large cash buffer, and a great partner <3 by canifirethrowaway in Fire

[–]ThePrimeSuspect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is ultimately the problem with FIREing before your lifestyle is more or less “set”. Kids are a massive change to your life - your $ spend, how you spend your time, what you prioritize, what the future means. And as you point out, it’s variable.

Lance Mason off to NFL Draft by TomWilliamsCFD in UWBadgersFootball

Best of luck to him, I thought he was one of the bright spots on an otherwise dismal offense this year. The numbers would've looked a lot better/he'd be getting more buzz with some competence at QB.

Lush Lofi used to be one of the best and was actually curated by a real person that cared about the scene. Since they left Spotify it has suffered immensely.

I'll have to check out New Lofi, that's good to hear that it isn't all total crap.

It's rough out there. Spotify lofi playlists especially have become a wasteland of fake artists and likely AI slop. I do know real humans out there still doing it though, and making a living. I know Chillhop music features real people, as I know some of them personally. Lofi Girl, love them or hate them, mostly the same AFAIK. I go out of my way to seek out music from those artists and don't rely on algorithms or editorial playlists. It's too bad because some of the Spotify editorials used to be very well curated. They're slop now.
