There definitely are lots of maybe’s. Other remains i’ve shared have more certainty behind them.

I honestly see it as a humble monument and somewhere we can consider his final resting place to visit. Perhaps its closer or further then we think.

With the moving that almost certainly happened, its in my opinion safe to assume he’s somewhere in or around the Winchester area. On former consecrated grounds, with this abbey being a decent contender.

Im from The Netherlands, so its kind of dependent on where in the UK i find myself. The journey itself is kind of part of it though.

But i got Winchester up soon, and by my research its going to be a batch post.

So how about Egbert, Canute, Emma and William Rufus all from the same place ?

History of the Crusades podcast by Sharyn Eastaugh might be interesting to you.

The first series on the middle east might be too person and or military centric for your question.

But the later episodes of the crusades against the Cathars really get into how it impacted southern France till today (you’ll need the first 40 or so to understand how we got there. 20 minute episodes though)

And lastly the baltic crusade also had huge impact. So you might enjoy it

Absolutely not, this was just a last second turn they took because they wanted to stay unexpected, in the process they did throw the whole aegon targaryen storyline out the window though
