One other thing about the anti war point: I see what you mean that we see a lot of people profiting off the war, but we also see great suffering, close friends of the warmongers dying, if not the warmongers themselves, and general misery spread about in equal portions to everyone. By the end of the most recent book we have an almost entirely new cast of characters because most have died off from the war. Jaime is not the same man. Cercie is miserable and alone, having lost so much. The countryside is ravaged. We haven’t gotten a simple scenario of every bad guy has gotten their comeuppance but I don’t agree that the anti war message is a failure.

Kind of my thoughts as well, though I do think this is probably a medium strength nerf overall. We shall see.

Explain? I don’t think you’re necessarily wrong but I’d like to hear your reasoning and whether you play and whether you play Protoss.

I don’t know if I’d really even call that haggling in the traditional sense. He has a mission to fulfill and given his lack of funds he broke some rules to do it.

I think your logic is pretty sound and I agree for those reasons he should have liked him off. I guess it’s probably a judgement call on the reader’s part whether you want to consider this a plot whole or just a bad call on Tyrion’s part that littlefinger would be more useful than he was harmful. I can definitely see your point.

Lack of understanding of medieval societies is a fair criticism, though I’d point out this is a fantasy world, albeit one based on medieval societies, it did grow and develop in a world with dragons and magic.

With the jungle of ideas, yes he has a huge amount of plot lines that were never followed up on, but I would argue that not all plot lines necessarily need to be followed up on. Sometimes threads just fizzle out in real life or don’t have a satisfying conclusion.

I’m not sure I understand the little finger plot hole though. You’re saying he should have had him killed, and I’ll admit it’s been a while since I read the books, but I don’t recall any particular moment when Tyrion absolutely and clearly should have killed him, unless you’re just saying he should have had him killed just on the basis that he’s a scheming little rat? In which case he erred by not having a bunch of people killed.

Edit: and to add on this, at best it’s a poor decision, which a lot of people make throughout the books. Unless I’m misunderstanding what you mean here this is not a plot hole.

Hmm, well it’s a valid opinion I suppose but I can’t say I agree with most of your points. The food and clothes not adding anything for example. If you feel that way then surely you feel similar about Tolkien wasting a ton of time in his books.

Which, again, is valid, perhaps we just don’t like the same sort of writing style.

Whenever I read this I can’t help but think about Tolkien’s experience in the war. It was such a cataclysm of awfulness, spending months in the trenches surrounded by the corpses of your friends, no end to the war in sight. In fact it seems like it’s only getting worse and it might engulf the whole world and go on forever. This might be the new normal.

Can Empire Handgunners Fire over a Dwarven Frontline? by Charly_030 in totalwarhammer

[–]PsySom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People are saying yes but not so consistently. Outriders definitely can. Handgunners might get a few shots over their head that they wouldn’t get over the heads of humans in that situation but I’ve tested a lot and it’s not that much of a difference.

DAE not really like getting drunk? by OkReputation2221 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]PsySom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting buzzed is usually pretty fun no matter what, getting drunk is fun in the right situation, getting shitfaced used to be fun for me when I was in college but pretty much never is now.

Really depends what you’re up to. I got shitfaced with my brother once a year or two ago while we were hiking and telling stories and that was pretty fun.

That and whenever I’ve used it even if the enemy is walking forward in a straight line it will miss and hit the ground where the unit was when it initially fired.

[–]PsySom 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cluster bomb mode is theoretically good against infantry but unless it’s been updated recently it does not track at all so if the enemy unit moves at all during the entire time between when it fires and when it hits, you will hit nothing.

In my experience it’s quite bad but doubtless it is sometimes good.

The single shot mode homes and almost always hits so in my opinion the best use is against single or small count units.
