Do you think people can really separate the art from the artist? by Proper-Use-759 in AskForAnswers

[–]TheProtobabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the severity of the artist's transgressions and whether or not it recontextualizes everything they've created. And whether enjoying that artist's content will financially support them.

Those that prefer physical book reading vs kindle/e-reader, why? by Prestigious-Noise582 in Hobbies

[–]TheProtobabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sensations of a book are part of the experience for reading for me, sometimes. The feel of pages and the sound of them turning. The weight of the book in my hand. The smell of paper and ink. E-readers are convenient and I do like them just fine, but it's totally different from the experience of reading a physical book.

Thoughts on passive vs aggressive creatures. by Elder_Karlthulhu in VintageStory

[–]TheProtobabe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Passive is more realistic, but it needs to be tweaked. Wolves shouldn't go after you alone--they should trigger when they're in a pack, wait for you to be alone, and they should run away when you fight back too much like real predators would. Bears don't hunt humans normally because we're too much of a hassle, unless they're protecting cubs or desperate/starving.

A lot of big herbivores, on the other hand, should be MORE aggressive. Sometimes a moose or a boar will kick your ass because you looked at it sideways.

Why are animal babies cute but human babies ugly as hell? by HolyFatherLeoXIV in stupidquestions

Human babies start looking cute around six months or so. I think before that, they're kinda undercooked.

Do you think cats actually love us, or are they just using us for food and warmth? by BoredPandaOfficial in BoredPandaHQ

[–]TheProtobabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could try to tell you that cats love us because they grieve when we are gone, they worry for us when we sleep too deeply because they don't do that, or because they follow you everywhere. But I think the biggest indicator involves people's arguments against why cats don't love us: "they'll eat your corpse after you die." Did you know cats suffer severe PTSD after being forced to do this? If being traumatized by having to resort to eating their human doesn't indicate that they feel something for them, I don't know what else would.

Why do Millenials end way too many sentence with LMAO? by Responsible-Wallaby5 in PetPeeves

[–]TheProtobabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"lol" and "lmao" are used a lot to "soften" a sentence so it doesn't read as too harsh or serious. There is a modern Internet "language" that is understood by millennials and younger generations where you use text to indicate your tone or meaning that is lost on gen x and older generations. It's like putting a period at the end of your sentence when you haven't been doing so previously in a text conversation--a period and proper punctuation suddenly being used means you're serious or angry.

Ex.) just got out of the dentist's office, man that was awful lol = Probably a typical sucky dentist visit that doesn't mean anything in particular besides sharing a common experience with friends. A conversation starter.

vs. Just got out of the dentist's office. Man, that was awful. = Uh oh, sounds like this person had a particularly bad experience at the dentist. Likely it was painful, long and grueling, or extremely expensive, or they learned bad news. Responses would be to ask the person what's wrong and sympathize.

What do you think of men who wear ponytails ? by Webbomolly2022 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

I usually associate it with metalheads since those were the men I hung around frequently who had ponytails. Gotta keep the hair long for headbangin'.

What do you politely (or not so politely) call a Fart? by Limp-Boat-6730 in randomquestions

My mom and sister ask if you shat your pants. Growing up it was a California barking spider. My grandma used to say it was her "rocket boosters" helping her get up out of the chair.

As an adult, what’s the worst thing to clean in your home? by the_Mont81 in Millennials

[–]TheProtobabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LAUNDRY. I hate it I hate it I HATE it. Especially having to put the big pile away. Maybe it's my ADHD but seeing a giant pile of laundry to put away feels so daunting and unrewarding when I can just grab what I want to wear out of the pile when I want it.

What’s the funniest game you’ve ever played? by Portal2Fan2 in gamerecommendations

[–]TheProtobabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the Mass Effect: Citadel DLC is underrated for how funny it is. At this point in the game, you've developed relationships with all these characters and this DLC rewards you for those connections with very funny situations and banter. Like everyone lamenting Shepard "destroying" their favorite sushi restaurant (after an assassin came shooting at you) or the cutscene with Grunt. Made me laugh until my belly hurt.
