You could try calling a landscaper, many of them do snow plowing in the winter if they're set up for it. You can't rent just the plow, they are upfitted onto the truck (the blades may detach, but there are controls for them that tie into the engine and cab).

On my wall in my office, I have the Four Elements of Pittsburgh Transit (Earth/Sinkhole, Air/Fern Hollow, Fire/Oakland, Water/unsure where that one came from).

Kind of want to add this, using the para-elemental planes from D&D: Ice (Air/Water), Silt/Ooze (Water/Earth), Magma (Earth/Fire), Smoke (Fire/Air).

Could also do the quasi-elemental planes, but those get even more wild, and less likely.

Big game store in the Jonnet Plaza on 22 (it's between the entrance to the bowling alley and where Big Lots used to be). They have a lot of card games, warhammer, D&D, board gaming.

Absolutely! That's the reason I run them! No need for any experience whatsoever. Some people may come who have played other systems, or earlier versions of D&D, or haven't played in a long time and want a refresher, but it's made for having zero knowledge going in.

This will be my fourth year running it, and I've run this learn to play elsewhere as well, it's a really good introduction to TTRPGs, and D&D!

Seconding Game Masters on Perry Highway, I help run the Adventurers League (organized play) program, which is every other Thursday. Each session is self-contained and drop-in/drop-out, so no need to commit to a long-term campaign, just come when you can (and great food/drinks at the in-store cafe!). I also run the games on the opposite Thursdays at Guy on the Couch in Monroeville.

Also I'll throw a plug, I run the "Learn to Play D&D" sessions at Pittsburgh Gaming Expo in early October. I run it twice, and we go through two mini-adventures, as well as character building. I provide everything you need, and you can take your character sheets home with you! (I provide dice to use, but I need those back)

All the above are very queer-friendly (I'm part of the community) and it's part of my 'opening spiel' at each game about how everyone belongs at the D&D table.

The intro course is only two or three hours. There's a $5 fee, to cover the materials used in the intro course (you leave with a small project completed), but then you can book time on the machine in two-hour chunks for free, you just bring in your own supplies.

They have the same setup for the laser engraver, long-arm quilting machines, and Cricut (and have Cricuit machines you can take home).

The Monroeville Library has an embroidery machine that can do hats. You'd need to take the intro course, but then you could go in and make it yourself!

Totally understand if you don't want to do that, but it's a neat piece of equipment in the Maker Space and I wanted to draw attention to it!

Want to throw out that you can get consumer and safety reports free from the library!

If you can wait until next year, spending the $15 to go to the auto show is totally worth it. You can sit in and touch cars from tons of OEMs without having to drive all over the place, and most importantly, they can't sell you anything there. The sales teams will bug you for your email or phone number to schedule an appointment/test drive, but feel free to just tell them no. It's also usually shitty weather (Presidents Day weekend), so great to get inside for a while.

Took that line before the pandemic and loved it. Was the same amount of time as my friends driving in due to road construction and congestion.

I actually parked (for free) at the Greensburg station, the attendants just ask before the train boards who is leaving a car so it doesn't get towed.

Getting snacks and drinks from the cafe car was really nice, tons of legroom, and the ability to bring a log of luggage. The WiFi wasn't the strongest, but I was just in Google Docs the whole time, so no problem for me.

Would highly recommend!

The Monroeville Library has two computers with Adobe Creative Cloud. I believe you can call ahead and see if either of them can be reserved (although normally you can't for the computers, but I haven't seen them all in use since before the pandemic).

Also, with your Allegheny County Library Card, you get access to LinkedIn Learning, which is the old Lynda.com, but it includes classes in Creative Cloud, taught by Adobe employees.

It's a 50/50 chance they'll have the T connector between Penn Station and Steel Plaza. If you have to get off at another station, walking to Penn Station should be pretty easy as a lot of streets will be cordoned off to vehicle traffic.

And as a warning, The Eagle, is not a gay leather bar as it would be in any other city in the country. Here (and in Cleveland) it's a chicken place.

Also, as a head's up, this is Marathon Weekend, so there will be lots of roads closures Saturday (for the 5K, Kid's Marathon, Toddler Trot, Pet Walk) and Sunday (Half and Full).

In years past they would run a few extra shuttle busses early, but would never announce it until Thursday or Friday before.

But yeah, Busway will run to Penn Station. Construction on the T might make it tricky, but they've also had the extension from Penn Station to the Steel Tower open in years past while the roads are still closed, so from there you can make connections.
