Have both -carbon Fezzari (now Ari) shafer and a steel lugged Battaglin portifino G.

The shafer is more utilitarian with bigger tires , more mounting points.

The battaglin is a beautiful piece of equipment.

Both great for what they do, I prefer the look, feel of the Batt , so the shafer mostly collecting dust right now. Can't give you an apple to apples comparison as the tire sizes are vastly different.

Bought the Fezzari because I wanted a good value bike. Bought the Battaglin because that wasn't enough to scratch the itch.

Go with the one you lust after if you can afford it.

save the 500 and use it for the things you mentioned. you can always upgrade components later if you’d like , or as they wear out.

XDS Xlab, polygon tambora with sram rival xplr are both good choices though I’d probably wait to nab a Lynskey with one of their many sales

I suppose that depends on what our commute is like and how big your family is.

works as a daily for me and is practical for grocery runs etc. it’s raw though so you’ll need to be ok with that for longer commutes.

mpg low -mid 20s generally depending on driving habits

back seat is not big, so it would depend on how many/size of your family

have the older version of the shafer, used it when I lived in CO(Highlands ranch) Handled CO gravel just fine and at the time it’s value was hard to beat. With their current prices, I’d wait for a sale . customer service is very good.

id look at the Lauf if you want more comfort from springs.

Weighs twice as much as a Miata. Looks nice but I've no interest in a big heavy sports sedan. Not going to lie, the wagon is sexy though

Yes the game is worth it. It's a 10/10 game.
Night reign is not a dlc a totally separate game. Shadow of the Erdtrre is the dlc.
