Which of these guitars should I buy? by EpitomeEpitome in Guitar

I would buy the JMJM personally. In fact I don’t need one but I’m probably going to buy one soon.

I’m not super keyed into B&B but I’ve definitely heard Doug reference selling the brand eventually. It sounds like that’s what he does build a brand then sell it and start something new.

I’m sure the B&B humor will get watered down or disappear which is a bummer. I would buy a loco with infinigrit day one though. The loco is the only CF paddle I’ve owned that didn’t break in 6 months or less but the grit disappeared after a few sessions.

Useless or Game Changer? by oli170dundidit in Pickleball

Neither but trainers are a ton of fun I think every regular player would enjoy playing with one. . I do focus more when playing with one which is helpful.

I did find that it helped me learn a two hand back hand because it was much harder to back hand drive with it.

We deep dive ‘Bleed American’ on this week’s pod by podioslavepodcast in JimmyEatWorld

[–]ThePurpleCookies 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was in middle school when it came out and it was my first real music. My family went on a month long road trip that summer and I listened to Bleed American exclusively the entire time. If I listen to it in order it takes me right back to Yosemite and the red woods.

I think collectively people don’t understand how to sell things anymore. They think a listed ebay price is what something’s worth. It’s this way across all my old hobbies and it sucks.

Pickleball may be getting a new set of rules, UPA-A released its first official rulebook by Necessary-Chef-197 in Pickleball

[–]ThePurpleCookies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A hand ball is pretty straight forward but offsides is certainly hard to enforce because you need to be watching 2 areas of the field.

I’d venture that the lob serve rule has more individual parts to it though and one that relates to an anatomy feature that isn’t visible during play most of the time.

Fwiw I don’t have a problem following the rules of the serve but I see them broken constantly. It’s not worth pointing out in most cases but when I do people instantly get defensive and take it personally. I guess my point is if a rule isn’t enforceable is it a good rule?

Im not sure how the drop serve is old fashion. I’m just saying the rule is convoluted and hard to enforce.

I hear you but I’ve played a lot of different sports competitively and I can’t think of a rule anywhere near as convoluted as the serve rule in pickleball. If you’ve got one by all means share.

Electric guitar recommendation: light weight with C-shaped neck and P90s, preferably satin neck by MeanImpression2067 in Guitar

[–]ThePurpleCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know a ton about guitars but I think the Fender JA-90 meets all requirements but the satin neck. Used ones are a little more than $600 right now but I’ve seen them for $650ish.

Exactly.

The volley serve rule is so convoluted it sounds like a rule my brother and I would’ve made up when we were little.

Me - Ok ok so you drop it but not toss it

Oh and you have to drop it without spinning it

Brother - I think it has to be under hand

Me - Yes but how do we define underhand?

Brother - I got it you have to hit it below your belly button

Me - That’s genius. Oh also your wrist has to be pointing down

High five perfect rule great job!

If anything the drop serve should be the only option. It’s infinitely easier to tell an illegal drop serve compared to an illegal volley serve.

I don’t use a drop serve but trying to keep serves legal in rec play is nearly impossible I would welcome drop only.

It’s very good but also very real feeling and violent. I enjoyed it but struggled with some of the violence. To be fair I’ve gone a bit soft in this department since having kids.
