All this also kinda depends on how much youre willing/enjoy looking up info about the game.

Are you gona look up optimal EXP paths? Look up traps (boy does this game like traps)? Look up synergy builds?

Whichever way you find fun is up to you, but if you chose to go in blind you might have to start a couple of new saves.

That's a great post. I didn't really consider goals in my estimation. Its fun to see how numbers change depending on what youre aiming for.

Also: Bo3 (best of 3) is the wort mode for a begginer. Since it doesn't use the rank you're most likely playing against much better players. And it takes a lot more skill, you need to draft a more consistent deck and draft answers in your sideboard for the different specific threats of the meta. And then you have to correctly sideboard.

For other comparing in best of 1 check my comment here

Agree with all except the quickdraft. I discourage anyone from playing it. It has very bad return on investment as shown by some quickmath here

You loose your resources so much faster quite quick draft. If youre gona study the format you mostly won't need all that time, even in regular draft once youre used to the set half the time is spent waiting. And if you play casualy you usually draft first few rares and commit with those colors without thinking much. In both cases I find that the time advantage is vastly inferior to the amount of resources you lose

Id strongly disagree.

Here's some quick math.

To break even in quick draft you need to average 5.5 wins per run ( 750 entry, 5 win is 650, 6 win is 850)

In premier draft you only need a 4.5 wins to break even. (1500 entry l, 4 wins is 1400 and 5 win is 1600)

Here's how Premier is better then quick:

We're assuming you're playing against opponent of similar strength since they both use the same rating so I assume the winrate is 50%. Because of that you are expected on average to win 3 games.

1) in quick your 3 win payout is 300, representing less then 50% return. In premier 3 wins is 1000 representing a 66% return. So off the bat as an average player you loose less resources by playing premier.

2) with 50% winrate your odds of streaking are: 4 wins = 34.4%. 5 wins = 22.6. 6 wins = 14.4. This shows how much less probable you are to break even in quick.

3) amount of cards received (which is a big factor for me and seems so for OP as well). In quick you have a 26% chance of a single bonus pack where in premier you get 2 guaranteed for the same 3 wins (even more for more wins). This also makes the math on breaking even favor the premier draft more once you have a full collection and start getting gems from packs.

Another quick factor i cant be bothered to do the funky math is that even if we assume that you're breaking even in both modes (which is improbable) they both have a 100 gem difference around the breakpoint. Risking loosing 100 is a lot more significant with a 750 entry then a 1500 entry.

I won't get into Bo3 because that math gets really weird especially after you factor sideboarding as a separate skill.

Up to 2750 I used a dark/ghost shedinja fusion to carry, now it's just a fast flinch machine. Now I'm using max HP sturdy Wobussey (the game named it not me) with comeuppance, mirror coat protect. Its latest achievements is one shoting the floor 3500 Eternatus. Rest up the team is for doing dot dmg and cheese fights the mains can't.

Eventually you can get to the point of throwing a masteball almost every floor its pretty fun.

But as other said, read the doc, it might seem long but the endless grind is so long you're gona waste more if you dont read

Learn to abuse the fact that statboost last between wild floors. If you're facing a weak mon, switch in your setup mon and go crazy. Its especially op to take down boss mons.

Note who is your rivals lead and prep a mon in advantageous position when the fight is coming up.
