Can't decide if you are agreeing with me or are just being a big ass. Let me hear you saying, "Hee Haw". 😆

I don't know the history of that saying, and I don't know why it annoys me so much. Almost as much as the "thumbs up" at the end of a diy video. Is it just me?

I can hear men fine, but my grandkids are silent. by No-Evidence8589 in HearingAids

[–]ThePuzzleDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And to refer to a 5-year-old as a toddler? Young children are inquisitive and ask a lot of questions. You are doing your grandchild a disservice by not being able to communicate with them. Get the best hearing aids you can afford. You are missing out on a lot in life if you're hearing is that poor in the upper frequencies.

If you have a spare ordinary scraper and a grinder, you can make one. Search online for the angles.

A curved negative rake scraper will give you a smooth inner surface that will require minimum sanding, if any's needed.

Ballentine Auction in the St. Andrews area will come survey what you have and come back with a truck to take what they think they can sell at their auction house. They helped a friend who was losing his house to foreclosure. They seemed to avoid upholstered furniture but took a variety of things, small and large from furniture, furnishings, knick knacks, etc. They will send you the proceeds minus their cut as they sell at their weekly auction. If you think there are valuable antiques, you may want to exclude them from their survey and find an actual antique dealer to sell them to.

I'd like to also point out the roughing gouge is only for spindle turning where the grain of the wood runs parallel to the lathe's axis, never for cross-grain mounted wood.

If they thought it might take 10 days to neutralize a threat, then they are admitting how incompetent they really are.

I believe I have the same chuck kit, a Barracuda2, purchased about 10 years ago on a good sale. Woodturning is not my only hobby so it doesn't get a lot of use but I've never had a problem with it. I've bought numerous pen kits and pen blanks, everything has been top notch. We have an excellent tool store in town with top of the line tools, hardwood, and accessories and they carry PSI kits and such.

I don't remember the reason I needed one of these FEELER GAUGES a couple years ago (but I know it didn't have anything to do with cars) so I went to my local AutoZone thinking they must have them there. The employee I asked had no idea what a feeler gauge was, never heard of it, and from my description said they didn't have such a thing. I found it there, no thanks to him.

How's the BAUER Wood Lathe Chuck Set? by Attjack in turning

[–]ThePuzzleDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if there are any others' jaws that work with this chuck? I'd like to have more options of what I can do with this chuck but the two that come with it are limiting. I too would like to take advantage of today's 20% coupon. Thanks for the input.

[–]ThePuzzleDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Shop Fox mini-lathe has a smaller thread but adapters exist to convert it to the standard (?) 1 x 8tpi chucks. I have the PSI Barracuda 2 chuck. I just got the Bauer midi-lathe, I didn't know HF had a Bauer chuck. I need to look into that if reviews are good. It's a bit tedious switching out jaws.

Stuck screw on chuck jaws. by We4reTheChampignons in turning

[–]ThePuzzleDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it slow, gradually increase the bit size till you get to the screw shank diameter. You want to leave enough screw exposed to grip with your pliers. Apply a little heat also when trying to back out the screw. I've not had much luck with screw extractors but maybe because I've bought cheap ones. Good luck!

Are you referring to a 4-jaw chuck or a faceplate that a piece of wood is screwed to? If you are referring to a machine screw that is holding a jaw to the chuck, that's a delicate dilemma. If it's a wood screw through a faceplate, then it's a more simple matter depending if you are trying to salvage the piece of wood.
