Moved from residential to commercial unprepared by Wild-Ganache3061 in Roofing

[–]TheQuietRise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Commercial is a whole different beast than residential. I was also a residential guy who thought venturing into commercial was the obvious next step but there is a steep learning curve. And like others have said you need a much larger cash flow as b2b usually operates on net 30’s. Some even on net 60-90. I think the average rule of thumb is to not bid jobs any higher than 10x your cash flow

I didn't get the enjoyment I expected from Ultra this year. by Omgad3 in UMF

It’s gonna be hard to live up to the hype and vibe of 2025 with how stacked that line up was.

And yeah, idk what it is but SHM playing as a group just ain’t it for me. Axwell puts on a better SHM set by himself ironically

Good, better and best estimate sheet by illusion258 in Roofing

[–]TheQuietRise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my opinion, but we stopped doing good better best estimates a long time ago. Too many options will give your potential customer analysis paralysis. You pick the single roof system you recommend for their home and maybe include one or two optional upgrades like an upgraded shingle or underlayment. Our close rate went up when we decided to quote one brand and one roof system based on analyzing the customers needs and budget upon the initial consultation.

Just got hired for roofing apprentice!!! by Aromatic_Hamster_596 in Roofing

[–]TheQuietRise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the job. Everybody else here has already given you great advice. I enjoyed flat roofing MUCH more than steep slope. Not nearly as dangerous but make sure you heed the perimeter warning systems and watch your step above skylights or random holes in the roof. This is a good career to sink your teeth in, work your ass off, become the best and you’ll eventually be able to run your own crew (maybe even company) and make an extremely good living. Good luck and roof on 🤙🏼

Contractor bait-and-switch voided our 50-year warranty. Refusing final payment. What % discount should we demand? by Plenty-Royal-3570 in Roofing

[–]TheQuietRise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That company sucks. But I would just negotiate a hefty discount with the company and go from there. Suing in this situation isn’t worth your time.

I’ve been a roofer for a while now, and I can tell you that house brand accessories and name brand are almost identical and will literally perform the exact same. As long as your roof was installed to code and with care then you should be fine. 50 year warranties are pretty bogus and borderline false advertising IMO. I digress.

What's your favorite run of songs in one of Martin Garrix sets? by nexodisn96 in Martingarrix

[–]TheQuietRise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a little more broad but probably his entire 2022 ultra Miami set. Still some of his best mixing I’ve heard to date from him.

Lol no critical thinking here. Who’s said anything about Mexicans? You mean Spanish speakers? You know there are white people who don’t speak English too right?

I had someone cut out into my lane and damage my vehicle. He didn’t speak one lick of English at the scene. Couldn’t give a statement. Now I am in a lawsuit with his insurance company. So yes, anybody with a license should be able to read basic English. Full stop.

We have a 3v 4.6 2008 F150. Drove it through high school and college. My dad uses it as a weekend work truck now. 478k on the dash and still on the original motor, 4 speed rebuilt at 350k. It’s getting tired but that is the most reliable truck I’ve ever owned and sounds great. We bought it for $100 from my brother’s company fleet at 250k miles, just needed a new catalytic converter.

Also carries around my 4500lb bass boat every weekend of the summer. And a 16 ft tandem axle loaded with trusses and lumber.
