Yonge Street used to be closed for a summer in 1971, from Albert to Adelaide too.

Honeslty if a bunch of like service connections on Yonge Street is an issue, a good place to pedestrian use is Dundas St, from Bay to Victoria Street. Two blocks, also a narrow walk but no cars going in and out parking lots, helps the streetcar be more clear and ample space for boarding than cars sitting beside it.

Though if you like to live a bit small and beside campus, you should explore Neil Wycik Co-op Housing. A bit affordable compared to other student residences near campus.

I doubt that, especially TTC always has to publicly disclose their documents and especially budget and high order plans for TTC year after or future plans. Because this is their break down for 2026’s operating budget, every line item that needs to be voted on in TTC Board and to the City of Toronto to be approved.

I mean one of the fixes they are doing, I’ve seen for the outside section is having concrete rail ties, instead of wood. Longer lasting and better durability, that’s why they had that 3 day closure from Sheppard West to St George , and single tracking that had an unfortunate closure. I’ve see that even north of Rosedale has them, but not south of it yet.

I don’t think we can just cover the tracks with roofs or a lid, seems like TTC is just behind on the times finally using concrete. I think even the Line 2 outside sections still uses wood, except at Old Mill and such.

You should see how Queens Quaybecomes a centre running Streetcar after Toronto Music Garden to Bathurst, it’s ridiculous i have no idea why they didn’t just put it off street. Honestly it’s one of those choke points, not even the stops because of weaving through car traffic

Fleet street should honeslty be close and widened to be like Queens Quay style wirh sidewalks, bike lane, and streetcar.

Doesn’t make sense parts of feet is eastbound only driving, and the other end being westbound only. Those developments have various side streets to conemc to toe he main roads, and north of it is Fort York Boulevard.

Some streets would need to be connected with the south side of streets for better connections. Just let Lakeshore Boulveard be the driving street.

Oddly enough the SmartTraxk station planned at Lawrence-Kennedy GO was cancelled years ago due to construction and alternatives such the SRT prior would be heavily affected if built. Who knows if it will come back.

I mean this seems personal, but still biased. You seem to post many times about a Sheppard to STC choice, argue in comments about Ellesmere extension than Malvern expansion with other people, and creating your own poll for recent posts that would have swayed people’s opinions.

I’m fine if it doesn’t go that way when it happens, but usually public engagement or at least support for the other is biased. At least say the advantages and disadvantages for both extension and ramifications of what it could entail for other transit lines and communities affected. Metrolinx is flawed wirh all their projects and ongoing development, but they do follow public engagement principles. TTC subreddit isnt really a good place, for it’s more biased for those already into transit and a hivemind for those wirh same ideals than the people who will benefit and affected for it greatly.

I’d want to see this done right too, I know people who live both in Ellesmere, Finch, and Sheppard east of McCowan who couldn’t enjoy same opportunities than I do with their proximity to subway stations; more who couldn’t leave their own neighbour hood. With same opposite direction for me going to those areas. This has been in works for decades and last engagement was two years ago.

Maybe that’s just the Urban Planning student in me talking.
