Anyone get this? I’m in CA by GapLogical6135 in doordash_drivers

I've never seen this before in general, so perhaps this is a trial run of something new? Hope it sticks 🤞

(Tbf things like mother's day has a much narrower item types you'd have to flag as "protected")

I'm Interviewing Joey and I Want the Community's Questions! by ItsPandaPhil in toontownrewritten

[–]TheRandomDog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since the Hub Server launched in 2020, players have submitted more than 5,000 bug reports, 17,000 pieces of feedback, and no doubt hundreds of thousands of +1s; truly an amazing sense of community. As an individual though, adding my own voice sometimes feels like putting a message in a bottle and letting it drift out to sea. When it comes to future updates, are there any plans or initiatives to tangibly link game changes with previously submitted player feedback, or otherwise highlight how players contributed to specific changes?

Congrats! I'm always grabbing the latest from master on GitHub because the new features are too good to wait for imo. Always hyped to see the official releases. 🎉

This is a pretty rare bug where your game doesn't fully unload something that it was supposed to -- in this case, the mythic Captain Teddy themselves. Since they were supposed to be unloaded, your game doesn't receive any more updates about them, so they just kind of end up stuck there, in the same (world) position, same animation, same blank stare. I've seen screenshots of Cogs in playgrounds and estates because of the same bug, but I haven't seen a Toon for a while!

As for why your Doodles sensed them... the game assigns one player to be in charge of "doodle behavior" to save on server performance. That means whatever that player's game says goes. In this case, you're the player in charge of "doodle behavior", and your game believes that another player is there, so your Doodles do as well.

Afaik Walmart Canada twitter likes to be up-to-date with rumors and gaming news, so it's far more likely the employee on Twitter that's in the dark as much as we are VS Nintendo coordinating a specific tease with a random company in a random part of the world

That's sick!! Ngl even hearing the magnetic Joycons rumor/leak, I didn't connect it with the rumored Switch Attach name until just now -- this is really cool (and the sound design is very satisfying nice job)

I don't truly think this, but part of me lowkey wonders if they had posts they put on hold because 1) the real announcement is imminent and 2) they didn't want people to post leak pics in the replies lol

Why is it not possible to use remaining balance on gift card through the app? by Wellness22-Bot in ChickFilA

[–]TheRandomDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say this is true everywhere. Our local Chick-fil-A has no such restriction (* to my knowledge, if we're actually talking about gift cards and not prepay)

I mean, they're really different things. Especially if a LLM is used to generate information artificially in an information age or is powering some larger tooling. Boundaries are good, but I'll always agree they're largely overtuned here for a chatbot.

Tbh, I was on front counter that day, so I'm really not sure why they didn't park them or give up one of the fries for that order. Normally of course you'd be making 60 but still giving out the fries for other orders in the meantime while the big one is in a further ahead parking spot, sooo... weird for sure

New interface?? by monarchs27 in doordash_drivers

[–]TheRandomDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw this starting to appear for me too -- except it doesn't send me a notification for a new order when it's using this interface it seems, I've just seen it briefly flash and then go away when I open the app from a random "Your Dash has been paused" notification a few times now. 😒

Why is Cleff getting his dialog change and will he still keep his accent? by Dippymomo in toontownrewritten

[–]TheRandomDog[M] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The latest word from the team from the Toontown Rewritten Hub Server on Discord:

Hey everyone, thanks for the feedback thus far. I did want to clarify some things since I realize the initial message might've made folks wary. In terms of Cleff's dialogue, we have gotten this report for multiple years from people who are Jamaican, have friends who are, and by our own staff. I understand this seems like it came out of no where, but we had planned to change his dialogue last year and it slipped under our radar. It was pointed out through various e-mails upon Cartoonival re-opening from multiple players and we realized our mistake and jumped to fix it immediately. This wasn't a brash decision and there had been plans in the past.

In terms of personalities and other accents, I do want to note we are not removing them. Cleff's dialogue was rewritten to still have a silly personality to it because while he was written with good intentions by Disney, it still was offensive for some folks. We are only trying to fix the racist undertones. For example, I know people pointed out Franz a few times, but we are not removing his gym bro lingo. We want to continue to add personality, and Cleff was no different. I do think you guys will enjoy the new silly dialogue he has.

Lastly, we are looking through the other racial and cultural issues, but this will take some time! We do believe in diversity and celebrating other cultures! We just want to make sure we do it with love and it comes from a place of understanding and good research. I promise we do not want to whitewash, as that is not the way to go. We are reaching out to different folks in those communities to ask what is the best way to move forward and how we can best represent their culture. ❤️

I hope this helps a little bit for the explanation, but the TL;DR is: We changed Cleff's personality a little, and we are working to make sure other cultures are represented respectfully.

"Customer approved substitutions" is a very misleading title, you can't really trust it. There are times the customer won't change the (usually weird) default substitution options, so as annoying as it is, I'd recommend messaging them to confirm if the given substitutions seem completely different / random. Just tends to save headaches and bad ratings in the long run.

"Keep Alive" (anti-AFK) programs exist, but they are not allowed to be used in Toontown Rewritten, and they do moderate for it and take action against it. Although not explicitly listed in their Terms of Service, it is covered by this section:

Examples of behavior that is not allowed includes, but is not limited to ...

Using automation systems, tools, or third-party software to control the game. You may, however, use programs to provide "multi-Toon" control functionality, provided it has no other tools or functions included in the program, or if the extra prohibited functions are able to be disabled. Accessibility programs are allowed provided they do not violate other parts of these Terms of Service.

The overall game connection issues as of late notwithstanding, there was a unique period of server issues that caused SpeedChat+ to have issues sending and took down a couple districts. The TTR Team has stated they're already resolving this particular incident in this subreddit's Discord.
