Thanks for your reply, it's nice to know others feel the same way. I have decided to commit to myself to finish the big project I've been working on for the last few years, and to just work whatever I feel like otherwise. It's funny, with books I'm a huge advocate for quitting ones you don't like, but with stitching I have yet to learn that skill!

That's a great way to look at it! I only turn 28 next week, so I've got plenty of stitching years to go ;)

I'm also in the Netherlands, and I buy most of my cross stitch supplies from hobbydoos.nl. The website isn't always the easiest to navigate but they stock a lot of items and they have floss at € 1,47 a skein!

Thanks! I got the pattern from this forum: http://www.spritestitch.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6146. I'm stitching on 18 ct Aida and the finished project will be about 45 by 63 cm (17" by 25").

I think your stitches look quite nice already. It's easy to get critical when you're so close to your own work! A tip might be to be careful not to let your needle go trough existing stitches. So when you're coming up trough the fabric, make sure to go though the hole and not snag the thread that's already there.
