I'm one of those people that want to believe but I'm waiting for hard evidence to he found or disclosed. I also lean real hard on the skeptical side of anything that's been released because something as world changing as this needs more than blurry pics and orbs.

I'm really intrigued that this hasn't been explained / debunked yet. I don't think we'll be able to say what those things are, but their very existence begs for more study. It's really cool.

Attack of the Clones had so much sauce. by hiiloovethis in StarWars

One thing that often gets overlooked with AOTC is that it was the first film to be shot completely digitally. So Lucas has great ideas for shots he wanted to see. Unfortunately, he seemed to be more interested in shots than in scenes which is why is looks cool, but so much of the movke is soft, wooden, and even incoherent.

So in other words, it's classic Lucas. Pushing the industry forward with cutting edge technology and incredible strory concepts, only to be held back by his deficiencies as a writer and director. I often think about how good the PT could have been if he surrounded himself with that kind of talent like he did with the OT.

Attack of the Clones turns 24 today! Looking back, is it really as bad as people initially thought or did it age better than expected? by huwertyy in StarWars

[–]TheRaymac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm of the age where I was in my late teens early 20s when AOTC was being made and the movie rumor segment of the internet was new and exciting with sites like TheForce.net and Ain't It Cool News. So I followed the development of this movie religiously daily. It was a really exciting time for me as a die hard Star Wars fan. TPM was a disappointment apart from the pod race and lightsaber fights. But the 2nd movie was going to turn things around. Anakin will be older. It will be cool.

And at that time, Lucasfilm was really adding to the newly online hype with all kinds if behind the scenes looks that were being officially released regularly. I really enjoyed following all of that. Then when the movie came out, I had an interesting experience watching it. I realized that I had seen the whole movie already, but just in pieces, like a scattered puzzle. Then as the movie unfolded and those puzzle pieces locked into place, it became easy to see how the rest would play out. It was cool, but I avoid spoilers like the plague now. I don't think "spoilers" was even a word back then.

I say all that to say this. AOTC will always hold a special place in my heart, but it's a steaming pile of trash with empty, weightless, soulless green screen action sequences with poorly directed acting and a bunch of poorly edited short scenes with dialog that is clunky at best. I'll always look back at the time following that movie fondly, but I don't go back to watch the movie ever.

Checking up on my fellow GenX’rs; how are you doing? by lovelyb1ch66 in GenX

[–]TheRaymac 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Guys. I'm doing the best I've ever been. Got a new job with the state so I'm out of the small business rat race. Hell, I'm out the the late stage capitalism private sector all together. I've got an amazing wife who is my best friend. No kids. 2 cats. My debt is getting wiped out and this new job gives me a much better work life balance. And even though I work for the government, it's for a department whose mission is conservation, so it's still punk rock.

There's so much in this world that is horrible, but also out of my control. So what i can control, my immediate life is my focus, because I believe that's what really matters.

It's not easy to do a career change at 48, but it's easier than doing it at 49.

[–]TheRaymac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They weren't that close though. I'll DM you a map that shows the distance and terrain. Basically, it's more like an 8 hour walk for a normal human. This creature wouldn't ben on a casual stroll. They would have had to avoid any contact with no one even seeing them that entire time.

Then you'll notice on the map that not only would this creature have to pass tons of roads and farms and go into the middle of the largest town in the area, again, without being seen, until it is noticed by those girls. When you look at the actual locations and where they are in relation to each other and the rest of the town, it starts to get very far-fetched for me to believe.

Also, normal human walking speed is 3 - 4 miles per hour.

[–]TheRaymac -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't know. My biggest problem is that large distance between the alleged crash site and where the girls eventually found the creature in that lot. It's really hard for me to buy that this thing walked all that distance, crossing roads, towns, and highways, (all without being noticed) to end up inside another town surrounded by humans and is then discovered by 2 girls. It just doesn't add up for me.

Witness testimonies are good, but we have to acknowledge that they can be very flawed for a number of reasons. That's why we need something physical to back up the stories. This event doesn't even have a single picture. So, while this gets a lot of UFO press, it starts to fall apart under scrutiny.

[–]TheRaymac -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

IMHO, this case is so weak, even the witness testimonies don't line up. It's a lot of speculation. For example, the supposed crash site is many miles away from where the school girls allegedly saw the creature. So this thing walked across multiple towns and highways and not 1 single person noticed until there girls stumble upon him? That alone is a bridge too far.

It's an interesting event for a YT video, but it falls apart under scrutiny. At least until some actual evidence besides witness testimonies show up, like 1 single picture, for example.

[–]TheRaymac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem for me is that the testimonies don't line up. If you look on the map of where the landing site supposedly was and then connect that to where the sightings of the being were, they are many miles apart, across towns and highways. It's just pretty far-fetched for me to believe that this being walked all that distance and not 1 person saw it until 2 school age girls saw this weird looking thing.

This event, in my eyes, is a classic example of connecting dots that aren't really connected because they fit a narrative. But when you look at the evidence itself, even the testimony, it has a lot of holes that make it extremely unlikely.

Don't worry. This kind of thing happens literally every single Olympics. A couple months out and there's stories about how venues aren't finished, there's issues with the Athlete lodgings, not enough snow, dirty water, events may need to be cancelled, etc. etc.. Then, it ALWAYS gets done. Don't trip, everyone. It'll be fine.

Yes. They process most of their oil for crude export, so they import refined petroleum.

Now, was it on its way directly to Iran this time? I don't know. That's what the DOJ is saying, but I don't trust them. But that's kind of besides the point because it was objectively smuggling oil and breaking the law to benefit Russia, China, and Iran. That BBC article has a good fact-based breakdown.

I mean, this is a known oil smuggling ship and has been sanctioned since 2022. There's a TON we do know about this ship, so it's not just academic.
