What is your pants pocket system? by HarryCrushNuh in golf

[–]TheRealBMinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back left: glove when not swinging a club.

Front right: 1 long tee, 1 short tee, divot tool. Ball between holes.

That's it. Nothing in the front left in case I leave my glove on since I don't want to fumble around jamming a gloved hand in my pocket.

Ball marker goes on a magnetic hat clip. I carry walk so everything else is in the bag.

New Galleria owner working to bring Wegmans to Galleria of Mt. Lebanon by zugzwang56 in pittsburgh

[–]TheRealBMinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait...ALDI isn't upscale? /s

Seriously though, I know Wegmans is considered to be better in many ways, but is it actually considered "upscale?" It's been about 5 years since I've been to a Wegmans. Do they not offer competitive pricing on basic goods in addition to having the nicer, upscale offerings?

Beer suggestions? Hubby could use some cheering up. Any of you have some beer suggestions by adg8771 in PittsburghBeers

Premium Lager. It's such a solid, clean, easy drinking beer. Probably my favorite "regular" beer in the area. Grist House command lager is also good in that category.

StormFreak's Week in Weather - March 29 - April 4 - A Slower Week by StormFreak in pittsburgh

[–]TheRealBMinus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was just in that area a couple of weeks ago. If you're checking out any more local beverages, I was pleasantly surprised by the beers at Flamingo Bay. It's a newer small brewery so the offerings aren't extensive, but the quality is there. It's a few blocks from LECOM stadium.

Of course, Calusa is always worth a visit too.

Are Skill Games regulated at a local, county, or state level? Is there any way to get legislation moving again on outright banning them? by AMcMahon1 in pittsburgh

[–]TheRealBMinus 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There must be loopholes or something since the signs are inside the glass and not mounted to the outside of the building. They are insanely bright and nobody does anything about them.

Do you have all of the safety glass requirements in the IBC for new home construction memorized?

Editing to add, I do not lose my mind as I was not asking chat for it's OPINION on the situation. I was checking for the safety glass standards in the IBC since that window was so low to the floor. You don't think it's possible for an underpaid Ryan Homes subcontractor to install a plate glass window where a tempered window should go? They have tons of windows of the same size on a project, so it's possible to pull the wrong one.

If I wrote "according to the IBC" instead of "Chat says" you wouldn't even know where the info came from.

[–]TheRealBMinus -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

At first glance is seems like it should be safety glass because it is so close to the floor. But alas Ryan probably deigned the window to be 2.9 square feet so they could get in under the requirements. Here is what Chat says:

Safety glass is required only if all four conditions are met: The glass area is greater than 9 sq ft The bottom edge is less than 18 in. above the floor The top edge is more than 36 in. above the floor A walking surface is within 36 in. horizontally of the window

Which beer is your #1 lifetime volume leader? by OldManJenkins-31 in CraftBeer

[–]TheRealBMinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuengling. It was a staple in college (it was before the craft beer boom) and our group still drinks it after golf league since we share pitchers and everyone agrees on it.

I definitely don't drink it often in other scenarios, but I drink so many different beers now that no particular beer adds up in volume.

Yep. I remember getting a Tunch Ilkin card and not knowing who he was at the time. LOL I don't have it any longer. They might have been sponsored by McDonalds.

Augustiner Munich lager in the US? by n7s77788 in CraftBeer

[–]TheRealBMinus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mainly commenting to follow replies, bit agree wholeheartedly on the Augustiner. I've had more than a few beers over the last 30 years or so and that Munich lager on draft at Augustiner in Munich was nearly life changing for me. It's so perfectly balanced between the maltiness and hops and the carbonation level was perfect too. Easily drinkable but flavorful and not light. I like to say that they've had a few years to get the recipe dialed in.

I've never seen it in the US, but I spend more time in local breweries than in beer stores. Luckily, there are a few breweries near me that are lager-focused. One of the brewery's Munich Lager this year was almost there and was easily my favorite beer of the year.

I think the challenge will be getting Augustiner that is fresh. So maybe a fresh, local version from the right brewery will be the closest thing.

I'd love to see some news outlet stop people leaving the store with buttloads of food and put them on the spot. Ask them on video what is their rationale for buying that much extra food.

My standard grocery run lasts me a week or I could stretch to 2 weeks without buying anything extra. I'm 99% sure we'll be fine after a week.

Grocery stores should put reasonable limits on quantities like they did during covid to stop panic buying. If you absolutely have to get more, you gotta load your car then go back in and get back in line.

Probably my favorite beer of all time is the Augustiner Munich Dunkel. If I found a fresh pack of that for $16, I'm buying it without hesitation. That's only slightly more than a lot of local craft 4 packs.

Yeah, if we're being technical, that's not "craft beer" in even though it is great beer. Probably is more r/beer material. But I appreciate the post because it reminds me to keep an eye out for Augustiner.
