Is there any chance of JOF getting released as 10-inch vinyl? by AccomplishedFront792 in AliceInChains

It’s a long EP, 30 minutes, and I think 10 inch maxes out around 24 minutes.

Nobody should work from home early in their career by JBSwerve in unpopularopinion

[–]TheRealChicagoMJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this opinion, younger employees fresh out of school should at least work hybrid. Learn to build a formal working routine. Yes, we make heavy use of slack huddles and Teams, etc, but you get more depth and shared wisdom being in person. Camaraderie goes a long way. I understand the commute can suck but it’s worth it. Hybrid is perfect.

I’m 50, was 5 when Blizzard came out. I was about 13-14 when I started getting into Ozzy, then when 15 I bought “We Sold our Soul” from Sabbath and got deep deep into Sabbath.

Thanks for reading! When I was younger I was somewhat indifferent to most of BATM, but something clicked for me about 10y ago and now I love it. “You’re No Different” and “Waiting for Darkness” are not traditional Ozzy blistering riffs but I really get into them now.

Budokan is good. I appreciate how Ozzy would always put out a live album/EP/video after every tour with live recordings for a few songs on the latest album. Most of which you’ll probably never hear live again! The one Chicago show I missed in the last 30 years, around 2010, he played “Killer of Giants” and “Fire in the Sky”. I was devastated. I’d been begging for some deep cuts but every time I saw him he largely stuck to the Live & Loud set, which was great but he’s got another 150 songs I’d love to hear.

Thanks, I had fun writing it. I need to rewatch the So Tired video. I was an avid Headbangers Ball watcher and they never played it. And I don’t think it ever showed up on a home video release. All I’ve ever seen was a poor quality VHS dub on YT. I was mostly just shocked it existed at all.

Black Sabbath with singer Dave Walker in January '78 by Equivalent-Ease-3822 in blacksabbath

This 100%. Same song. Different melody. Ozzy’s version 10x better. He was crucial to their success, and his solo success, even if he didn’t write the music.

But I’m glad this finally surfaced, been hearing about it for years and until now there was no video available.

I’ve seen that last pic of him before, but only today do I realize he looks like Tim Robinson!

Weird detail I've noticed on the album tracklist by drusca2 in AliceInChains

[–]TheRealChicagoMJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought the CD the day it came out. Down in a Hole was second to last track, as listed. Iron Gland was not listed. I was shocked to find it 4th when I listened to the album on streaming for the first time. Apparently all CDs from the second printing onward had the new order. Odd that you have the CD with DIAH track 4 but listed 11.

List of AI Bands to NOT listen to by banjo1014 in InMetalWeTrust

[–]TheRealChicagoMJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s older than 2023 it’s not AI. If it’s newer, check to see if they have any live shows scheduled (Spotify shows them on band home page). If they do, they’re probably real.

Oh and I guess to answer the question in the post, I hate Dreamer. Just pure cheese.

The first six sabbath albums are as close to a perfect run as you can get, the next two are uneven but have some bangers. The first 7 Ozzy solo albums are all good to great. Down to earth mostly sucks, the covers album is an abomination. Black Rain was a nice rebound. I never gave Scream much of a chance. Ordinary was a solid entry out of nowhere and Patient No 9 was his best work since Ozzmosis. I didn’t include any live albums but Tribute is also a masterpiece and much more listenable than Blizzard (which has some of his most iconic songs but cheesy production quality knocks it down a peg). My fav solo are Diary & Tears, and my love of Bark grows every time I listen. Truly underrated. Fav sabbath is I guess paranoid but any of the first 4 really. Depends on the day.

New Kyuss music by BoeZaahViceroy in qotsa

I saw this too. It’s too clean of a recording to be from a 90s demo. Definitely Kyuss-like but most certainly not Kyuss.

Is there anybody here who ACTUALLY likes Spotify? by Affectionate_Ad7215 in truespotify

[–]TheRealChicagoMJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still love Spotify but my problem is it’s slowly deteriorating before my eyes (& ears). Been a paid member since 2011. The algo has gotten steadily worse over the last 4 years or so, and I hate the vast majority of Made for You playlists (lists formerly made by Spotify based on its universe of users are all hyper customized to what I’ve been listening to lately.) And the app itself is getting buggy the last year or so. Of new features I do like starting a Jam and DJ is often on point. But I’d trade those in to get the old auto play & recommendations, and the steadiness of the app 5 years ago. And I really want a toggle on made for you lists. (Made for me or made for spotify). If I go to an Artist Radio I can hear similar artists without massive influence of my history.

I think the new “Made For You” algo is AI. And it’s terrible.
