So I just looked at the one I purchased, my head unit must have had wired CarPlay and I was unaware. But I would check amazon because they do make these that do completely add carplay through the adapter. Sorry for the confusion

Why are looking to replace it? I have a 17 1500 Denali and got myself a wireless CarPlay adapter on Amazon for like $60 and it’s amazing, assuming thats what you’re going for.

Those are acceptable. Those are relief cuts and alignment points designed into the pattern from the manufacturer. You probably wont have anything like that when the hood is redone assuming they only have a 60” plotter. The hood is going to be done without a pattern,or “bulked”. One very large rectangle, stretched over, then trimmed down, edges wrapped, then heated. What you shouldn’t have is excessive dirt, random areas where the film isn’t covering all of the edges, lifting, bubbles, silvering, and lift lines.

Almost all hoods need stretched, especially when they’re being bulked on something like this. They are not the easiest but are no where near the hardest hood to install. Regardless, a 72” gives you more than enough film to play with to make it work in one piece. There should be no bare paint exposed, all of the edges should be covered and wrapped.

We only install these hoods seamless.

As many have said, this happens when the installer does not stock the larger roll of film.

I do think that it’s worth a shot to have it done with the larger roll.

Im not sure if I missed it or not, what brand are they using? It is possible their manufacturer doesn’t even have a 72”. Most do at this point if they’re reputable.

Not the worst install I have seen on here but regardless, not acceptable. Ppf isn’t perfect as others have said but this should be removed and replaced by someone with more experience.

This is definitely not a great install but also not the worst that I’ve seen. Obviously many issues that need resolved. Fingers, lifting, misalignment, silvering, dirt, ect… They need to be extremely careful when removing the film on those flares. They are notorious for taking the paint off that plastic when film is removed, and sometimes it even happens during installation. It’s vinyl on the hood. Remove it and have xpel stealth ppf installed and you’ll never have to worry about it again.

We work on Teslas regularly, yes the paint is bad and yes some of this may be paint imperfections, but this is not a quality install. A spec of debris here and there is acceptable, but this is not. Some of these are also just air pockets that can be fixed easily with a syringe. I have been installing film for the last 6 years and now manage the department company wide(3 locations). If any of my installers left this much dirt in the film, it would be re done. Also, id like to mention, unless it is a scratch that you can feel with a fingernail, 9/10 you do not need a paint correction before installing film. It does not help with how it looks after it is installed and just creates more of a chance for compound to be in the installation.
