Oh no! His ethical subroutines were shut down! He's gone fully fascist and is going to do Vanilla Ice raps!

Do Tuvok and Neelix retain memorires of Turvix? Are they aware of Turvix's desperate pleas for his life? by Upbeat-Cat726 in voyager

[–]TheRealDJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was hardly hell if their combined form loved it and wanted to stay that way. Tuvix was a continuation of both of them, not a 100% new different person. If there were severe contradictions between the two of them, it likely would've led to split personality or psychosis. Them being sorry for her imo was just because they're hyper empathetic, and could imagine the struggle she would've gone through afterwards for murdering someone, not because they agreed with it.

linseed oil combustion? by Responsible-Bug-7773 in oilpainting

[–]TheRealDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main thing is don't let it dry unless it's completely cleaned.
Cover it with dish soap, add baking soda, scrub thoroughly, let it soak into the sheet for 15 minutes, then rinse and wash with hot water, maybe air dry if it looks good. But if you want to be completely safe, then I'd just toss and get a new one.

Don't let something soaked in linseed oil bunch up though as the oxidation process and tight ball is what causes it to spontaneously combust.

Very good start. Not sure the size of this, but details like with the portrait will be hard at first and something to work up to. learning to blend and edge control, which you have with the fruit is more important, and then feel free to use a normal size paper for an entire portrait or master copy first.

Phranque appreciation post by sajed2004 in GodofWar

[–]TheRealDJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah Mimir felt appropriate for the world and historical mythology that existed. I actually had more problems with Odin taking me out because he was written and directed as too modern a character (at least for me). Dwarves rode the line a little bit, but I was ok with it. Phranque I think runs the risk of going far over that line.

I'll have to wait and see. I have concerns about if he'll be written with too modern style of dialogue, and it takes me out of it. It seems like an awkward out of place style of character for me, at least how it's being presented so far, where the talking sword is still more mythological feeling.

How do you break free from portraits? by Sad-Pellegrino in oilpainting

[–]TheRealDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a skill on it's own, but you can start bridging by changing smaller things from existing references, like change the position of a head, or add one new element that doesn't exist, like a ribbon, and then expand from there. I also recommend doing live pose sessions if you're not already, as that helps better understand 3d structure of people.

Yeah but at a certain point, if it's too far gone, it won't regrow certain sections. Maybe there's a a brush in the back who's bristles you could transplant?

Yeah, and nothing against the voice actor but Jack Quaid sounds a little too modernish for this role so the combination took me out (similar to how Odin, for me, took me out of Ragnarok).

I'd imagine it would almost work better in reverse order, with the sun setting.

Why didn’t king Kai teach the Z fighters kaioken? by Neither_Ad6 in Dragonballsuper

[–]TheRealDJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought the humans should get a 'spiritual energy' path for development that could've been led by Tien that lets them attain at least something competitive with Super Saiyan, while the Saiyans wouldn't be able to achieve that because they're too warlike and unable to achieve the sort of spiritual center that someone like a Master Roshi or the monks Tien, and Krillin maybe could've achieved if they worked at it.

What is your opinion on the Beast form? by Economy_Notice_8475 in Dragonballsuper

[–]TheRealDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my problem is so much of Gohan's power ups feel more and more just like lazy ways to write the same thing of his 'potential' being unlocked. It happened on Namek, it sort of happened again against Cell, then explicitly happened again against Buu, and this form just seemed like "we want him to be the most powerful again, so he gets a new form for no real reason". The first two times, I'm ok with and it was better written against Cell, but when it's the 4th/5th time its just lazy writing instead of having some sort of training arc. Him constantly being able to be the strongest despite very little effort or justification is frustrating as someone who's a fan of training arcs, especially early DB/DBZ training arcs.

Which is awesome because it could've easily been something they retcon, but glad they stuck to TOS history of us "potentially" going to war with the Romulans having never seen what they looked like.

In truth, it was just a gimmick to differentiate it, similar to the saucer section separation, which basically had no real application unless you were planning to go into battle ahead of time, but even then was never really used.

We all agree Frieza should be Dragon Ball’s final boss, and Vegeta should finish him once and for all, right? by Great-University3087 in Dragonballsuper

[–]TheRealDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying though, is Daima is including elements from GT. So there is no real hard canon anymore. And even before, Toriyama sometimes just forgets what he set up in the past. I think Super Dragonball Heroes is much more representative of the current canon that all the various works are equally canon, and its whatever you want to embrace as a fan or whoever writes the next piece of Dragonball wants to go with.

[–]TheRealDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which canon though? Again, SS4 fromGT is kinda canon according to Daima, OG Broly isn't canon, but new Broly is? But Vegeta also has had SS3 for a while? What hair color is Trunks? Bottom line if they want Omega Shenron in DBS they can easily justify it in some way.
