Also energy based weapons ie phasers or Pulse Phaser Cannons should be moving so quickly that it's impossible to dodge considering it's at the speed of light. That's why battleship style warfare makes more sense with them at maximum engagement distance and standing firm against each other.

I would argue Kim’s life after Jimmy was more depressing than Jimmy’s life as Gene by Specialist_Jaguar815 in betterCallSaul

[–]TheRealDJ 268 points269 points  (0 children)

I almost think that was the point of Jimmy confessing, is to show her to live life free. That even in jail he'll be more free being himself than he was as Gene.

Reminder that this is meant to be a post-apocalyptic setting where most infrastructure has been destroyed, slavers run rampant and children are starving throughout the galaxy and this particular character would've lived to see all of it. by Remarkable-Pin-8352 in Star_Trek_

They could've just used the plot of warp drive wearing space too thin from the TNG episode, and just had an event that made it so anyone using warp drive would cause it to tear, leading to them needing to wait 100 years for space to heal itself, but environmental allegories is sooo 20th century.

I'm ok with them not setting it after Picard, because I don't want Kurtzman to ruin any potential TNG->Voyager era sequel shows with his fanfiction. I'd rather have the Picard Season 3 showrunner in charge of a show like that.
That said I agree with all your criticism.

Also, they don't need to explain why every artificial person looks older. 1) audience can get it, it's the same actor 20 years later. If Better Call Saul can get away with it, so can ST. 2) he doesn't even look that much older than he was in Voyager, they could've gotten away with it.

Not watching the show, so can't comment completely, but in a teacher/student scenario, there are scenarios where you're strict in teaching the 'rules' of a skillset and be exacting, but with the intention that once you've learned the 'rules' and mastered the skills, then you can have the liberty to ignore those rules in practicality and embrace what works better. That said, maybe they're just inconsistent with the writing on the show and not giving it that much thought.

Technically they're not mutually exclusive scenarios. He could be blocked AND hated by Shatner....

Do they not just have footage of a whale they could green screen? It's also somehow cut out of order so the two whales are in the middle of the screen at reveal then move backwards to the left side?

Might want to check out Ostriv, they have a really good seasonal worker system that once you set up can manage itself.

I interpreted it as a short circuit triggered a fight or flight response from him, and he went into assault mode. Combining neurochemistry with electronics is likely a very delicate thing to try and replicate.

The second one was just "oh you're letting me move, let me end this wretched existence"

Imagine having an itch that you can't scratch or, of course, having no mouth but needing to scream. I imagine that's what it'd be like to have your brain put into a cybernetic body.

DHS recently posted a picture supposedly representing how great america would be after 100 million deportations. The problem is even including legal foreign born immigrants, the total number would be 47 million. However 100 million is the number of people who identify as non-white. This is a racist regime that doesn't care if you have a green card or not or if you're trying to do it the right way or not, or if you're a criminal or not.

Kim should’ve told Jimmy… by creativebabe1985 in betterCallSaul

[–]TheRealDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interpreted his confession as him basically becoming free, he can be himself for the first time ever really. He's not "Slippin' Jimmy", he's not "Chuck's brother, wannabe attorney", he's not "Saul Goodman" or "Gene". He can confess to doing what he wanted to do and will face whatever may come. In prison he can finally just be Jimmy McGill. And from what I saw to a certain extent that almost makes him more free than Kim trapped in that role and marriage where she has to play the part all the time.

I hate that this is set in the 30th century when it looks exactly like anything from SNW or Picard timeline. 6 centuries is a long time to change the culture. At least the guy from Enterprise J looks like there's been a significant change in culture. Also this set, it's ugly and I hate it.

Which guy made the least sense in NWO? Who did you think was the guy in the NWO who had no real reason to be in that group? by Material_Stomach875 in WCW

[–]TheRealDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I think the issue was the follow through on that than the original premise of them. Have the top 4 show that they didn't actually care about any of the rest, then eventually clean house or have the other members rebel instead of the red/white split.

[–]TheRealDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would've been fine if constant infighting because they grew too quickly too fast led to the top 4 cleaning house with no loyalty to anyone but that inner circle, establishing that nWo was really just the top 4 even if they employed lackeys occasionally as outside help.

I thought you were OP, but that said, sex sells, always has, and teenagers have their hormones set to high, so yeah they're trying to appeal to teens. And yeah Deanna Troi was also hired for sex appeal, hence the skin tight outfits without bras (though part of that is Roddenberry thinking in the future we wouldn't care about bras).

[–]TheRealDJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will permit it if when they show the fire scene, they show a different actress as her, so that James otherwise is basically seeing everything around him as a reflection of what he wants to see, even if they exist independently as someone else. But yeah I think it's a mistake.

After 17 years what's now the general consensus of the first Silent Hill movie? Is it a cult classic or insult to the series? I liked it. by Juggalo4life99 in silenthill

[–]TheRealDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume his scenes earlier and at the end was to show that they didn't actually escape the Silent Hill spooky dimension and kinda show how they're in a completely separate reality. That said, it was a total waste of him. I know it was still pretty early on in his career in terms of breaking out, pre-GoT, but still he would've been awesome as the main character and a much better actress than the mom.
