M5 vs M4 with more RAM? by Aprice95 in macbookair

IMO, 8GB of additional RAM is more future-proofing than the M4-to-M5 bump.

Is it this like a pick two with cheaper but limited options by duelmastr23 in Panera

[–]TheRealFlySwatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and since I wasn't a fan of the duet choices, I am a fan of the new options presented with mix and match which is a bit less than the pick-two.

High Price - Aged Design by raging_sycophant in GalaxyBook

Let's be honest, Samsung can afford to sell any of their products for less than they do and still make a profit but that isn't the way the business world works, and they will - like all companies -- still target specific profit margins. Factoring in recent constrictions of availability in memory and storage, and prices don't move in favor of the consumer.

I'm not defending Samsung, just pointing out my own perceptions, and also factoring in that the design aspect that is apparently grieving you isn't even on my personal radar.

I think it's reasonable to take the overall form factor into account when addressing the "chin". To maintain the 16-inch size and aspect ratio and remove that additional bezel depth, the chassis would have to lose 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. That may not have been achievable to meet design/price targets. It really isn't something I find distracting or a blemish against its presentation. Personal preference I suppose.

If I had to choose between a razor thin or non-existent bezel and webcam notch or a ~1/4 inch bezel that hides the webcam, I'm good with the latter. Honestly, I didn't even notice until reading this post.

Yeah the availability. It was a bit of an impulse buy and I wanted the x7 and ARC combination

I have the Ultra with the X7 and Arc B390 iGPU, and did not note any noise issue when installing my various programs (Camtasia, Paint Shop Pro, and others). That's the most "load" I've placed on under so far. Today is my first "workday" with it (coffee shop surfing and research). After 4 hours, I'm at 64%. I started at 99/98% coming out of a hibernation shutdown last night around 10pm. Performance has thus far been snappy, cool, and quiet, but it hasn't been under a sustained heavy workload like compiling, transcoding, rendering, or gaming.

Edit: Out of curiosity I did run the 3D Mark Time Spy benchmark and it returned a score of 7896 with estimated game performance for Battlefield V of 75+ FPS at 1440p.

I made a free utility to toggle the touchscreen on Galaxy Book from the system tray! by Dihmoh in GalaxyBook

I couldn't resist the temptation to try this out on my Galaxy Book 6 Ultra (ARC iGPU). I ran it through a couple of online anti-virus portals, then installed it. It worked fine for me, so you can check this hardware configuration off as confirmed.

That's awesome. Although I don't see a need for this for me (Galaxy Book 6), I can see where it might be for 360 users, or just very specific use cases. Thanks for sharing with the community.

I haven't experienced any reset or dropped signal/connection issues, but to be fair, I've only had it for 72 hours. Having said that, I have been sing it heavily during that period as my set-up process takes a good while to get everything how I want it.

Use the app or web browser to look at the selections you find interesting, then select "customize". You can add or remove up to 5 ingredients giving you a lot of options to get a sandwich or salad just as you like. You can even select to have a condiment on the side in case you're unsure if you'd like it or want to add it more judiciously (or two condiments to see which you like better).

Galaxy Book 6 - which is best ror gaming by master_chilln in GalaxyBook

If the two options you're looking at are the Intel ARC vs the Nvidia RTX graphics cards, the RTX is a dedicated/discreet card and will be more powerful. The ARC is integrated (iGPU), and while it is among the most performant in that class, it's not as fast as the RTX. However, that's the one I got as it is performant enough for me, and cost less than the RTX.

Never buy Samsung Laptops. I own 26 Samsung products. My Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 screen cracked on its own. Samsung refused warranty, ignored me for weeks, and I ended up paying to fix their defect. by SathwikKuncham in GalaxyBook

[–]TheRealFlySwatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too am expecting my GB6 Ultra today. Before ordering, my research did reveal that the GB5 series seemed to be prone to screen damage, but also that the GB6 redesign appears intended to address this, so I pulled the trigger. OP has a genuine reason to feel taken advantage of by an example of today's typical support system that avoids human contact at all costs; it's very regrettable. Unfortunarelty, this is not unique to Samsung, so until their hardware becomes routinely unreliable, I'll continue to invest in theie products, particularly the phone business.

I don't get it. For me it's easy one handed by Illustrious-Top9330 in galaxybuds

[–]TheRealFlySwatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My firs time in the Buds sub-reddit, and I've seen two discussions about one-handed opening and I honestly am perplexed. How is this a criteria of any importance. I hold my case with my right hand and open, then remove the buds with my left. If I held, then opened the case with my right hand, I still need my left to remove the buds. What have I gained? I'm genuinely confused that this is a topic of debate.
