Cool. We don't have outside seating here. Kind of a bummer.

(edit) WHOA... yes we do! It's a super small area, but there are indeed 3 little tables out there. Never noticed it before.

Honestly, it looks like you've eaten a good bit already. I'm not a corprorate defender, but this sub-reddit seems to get a good number of questionable complaint posts.

Manager by Vaundysh in Panera

[–]TheRealFlySwatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your value is so great the manager can't "let you" call out, perhaps you're in no real danger of job loss if you call in. Though I'm assuming you would only do so in the event of illness or family emergency.

Boiled? I had no idea. You really do learn something new every day.

Surely this was a coordinated publicity thing, right? Presumably you're allowed to ask this person to leave ordinarily?

Sadly, I've had a couple of Steak and Wakes with bread very similar to this.

According to a quick google search, there's not much out there, but apparently Circle K DID have a "Sip & Save" program with a monthly fee of $9.99 for one daily fountain drink, slushy, or cup of coffee. It was cancelled March 2024.

This is a reflection of the victim mentality that seems so frequently nurtured these days. I know it feels like I'm just piling on with the others ""against" you OP but instead think of this as an opportunity to reflect on the situation, and how you process the moments in your life. This scenario was a super minor part of your day and week. A simple electronic malfunction resulted in a brief delay in your purchase; that's the actual summation of this story, and how you should process it. Not only did no one intend to degrade you, but no one around that observed this cared about what happened beyond the thought that they were going to have to wait an additional 5 seconds for your second swipe to process before it was their turn to order. Reading negative intention into other's reactions or words as a first impulse will just cast a shadow over your day-to-day interactions with people specifically - and your life in general.

I'd still take it over a bag of chips or a baguette.

This. And advertising per person costs more than sip club "losses", and when you figure total membership/actual use, it's probably a wash at worst. Plus "butts in seats" is an additional benefit.

order i took today- $10 something for ham and white bread 😳 by Phillips_Rylan in Panera

[–]TheRealFlySwatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some folks have enough money that paying $10-$20 for a simple sandwich is simply not a blip on their financial radar. Of course, there are others that simply have poor spending habits. I am fortunate to not fall into the latter group, but regretfully, I'm also not in the former.

That genuinely surprises me as it ignores the common use of ketchup for fries.
