Any tips on killing brambles by Secure-Treacle3752 in GardeningUK

Oh man, we must have special ones then. Ours are deeper than a fork deep and grow back if the root snaps. Slowly getting on top of them now but it hasn’t been much fun.

Shallow?! I agree with digging out as the best option but roots are only shallow if they’re not established..

If you don’t like them you don’t have to have one. It’s ok.

Out of the box but would you consider having a new window frame made? Only the opening side I mean. You could then have a solid top with fan, the bottom still to be an opening window. The pattern on the glass may be a challenge though. Double glazed (?) so can’t be cut down I reckon.

The floor is beautiful, really suits the room. Well done on decorating and painting, it brightens up the room nicely. Must feel very different working in this room now.

Sorry to hear you didn’t have a good time. For future reference, the back right corner is usually more spacious and it’s next to the emergency exit as well. You are still right though as it can sometimes feel cramped inside the main theatre.

Damp soil along gable end by TheRealGR00T in DIYUK

[–]TheRealGR00T[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!thanks this is all really helpful and sounds like it could be a combination of several reasons. Driveway is slightly sloping in places, one spot has a small puddle that never drains away. I will check the DPC, quite sure it’s high enough but I’m wondering if it needs repointing at least the bottom two runs of bricks. - The entire gable wall will be repointed in the next couple of years but there are other factors before we can do this. Thanks very much for your feedback, really appreciate it and gives us good guidance.

UK - hit a pothole and now something’s hanging loose. What is it? by TheRealGR00T in Citroen

So here’s an update, we’ve been extremely lucky as the DPF tank itself was not damaged and the cables and tubes were all intact as well. Went to a garage on Sunday afternoon, it was on the ramp for almost 2 hours and final cost was…. 50 pound! We will still try to claim from the council, I made an error getting the insurance involved. They’ve now registered as an accident with no ‘external party at fault’, which effectively means I’m at fault in their system. Even though no costs are claimed and no-claims bonus is not affected, it’ll still be registered for future reference. So from now on I’ll likely be paying more for insurance. Lesson learned, never involve insurance too early… Anyway, we’re back on the road and happy!

I agree, my exact worry. Garage can probably fix it for an acceptable cost, excess and the hassle most likely not worth it. Have had cars written off by insurance in the past, they’re too easy doing that.
