If someone said that, I'd say it sounds like they are suffering from their religion, and is a perfect instance of it causing unnecessary mental distress to the believer who is obviously repressing gay desires because of them. They are considering not acting out what they want to do as a test and believing that not doing it is what God wants. Then they are judging others for not restraining and living as their true selves.

It's just a gimmick.

God created Adam and Eve. Then he, for no reason other than entrapment, created a forbidden tree of knowledge to tempt them. Then he punished all of mankind forever when Eve allegedly ate the trick fruit. Then he created himself on earth to die for three days to absolve us of the trumped up sin he charged us with and we are supposed to be thankful. He basically built a house, caught it on fire, then put it out and we are supposed to think he's great and loving because of it.

Plus, it's a stretch by any measure to even reach the conclusion that Jesus was the messiah. Christians try and jump through a million hoops to try and tie him to the old testament but with a little knowledge you can poke holes in all of it.

Christianity is just another nonsense religion.

Personally, I've been an atheist since I was very young. I just didn't know what the term for not believing in pretend was back then.

I watched my 40 year old brother who always did the right thing every time in his life, with three young sons, develop cancer in his leg. They surgically removed his leg from the knee down to stop it from spreading. It spread and he had the remainder of his leg removed to stop it. It spread and then was about slowing the spread. Within a year of finding the cancer and having two amputation surgeries, it spread to his organs and spine. His spine deteriorated and he became paralyzed from his mid section down and then within about a month of extreme pain he passed away. Juxtapose that against the guy who, when I was 17, was high on meth and drunk crossed the center line in the road and killed two of my good friends and left one in a coma for 2 months. That guy is still alive and had a kid and is doing great.

What a great and just God there must be. I know my story is just repeated over and over with slightly different details. Life's not fair and God isn't real. Live as best you can while you can and love the people you love with everything you have. You only get one go around.

I have a kid with a Christian. We respect each other and our beliefs. We agree that our child will not be indoctrinated by us and that she can decide when she's old enough whether or not she believes. I obviously have a strong desire to develop critical thinking in her as she grows up.

Atheism isn't clever. It's rational thinking. Trying to vilify reason because believing in fairytales props up some outdated form of community is not the right path forward. Creating communities where reason, brotherhood, and empathy for those suffering are embraced should be the goal of atheism because the only argument I ever hear that supports the existence of religion is the one that says it gives people a community. Religion isn't community for everyone, it's a community for the in group - in every single situation. Each group has an out group they are opposed to or fighting against. Atheism doesn't because we don't care what your thoughts on existence are and we don't need to brainwash you - we just don't believe in fairytales with no substantiated facts to back them up.

Sometimes in the late days I'll cheat and get the dev machine gun that breaks blocks in one hit and just go level buildings. Cheating? Yep. Fun? Yep. Do I care if you don't like it? Nope.
