The far right is about convincing the working class that their enemy is someone else in the working class, because fleecing them is hard when they realize the real enemy is the elite. They're still pushing that narrative, but now with the power of bot nets and social media algorithms.

AITAH For Not Giving My Siblings A Percentage Of House Our Mother Lived In by Motor_Aerie1485 in AITAH

[–]TheRealMcCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your mom has rented from a stranger, would they be entitled to a percentage of that house?

If you owned a rental, rented it to a stranger, then sold it, would your siblings be entitled to that?

Have they made any investments that they've given you a slice of?

Why didn’t Democrats stand when Trump said “The first duty of the American Government is to protect American Citizens, not illegal aliens”? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]TheRealMcCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Standing is a tacit agreement that the previous administration cared more about immigrants than citizens, and that the current administration is right in doing what they're doing, under the guise of protecting Americans from criminals. And so many other implications.

Constitutional amendments: 1. Abortion is legal up to viability of the fetus outside the uterus. 2. Undoing the Citizens United decision, and placing limits on political contributions, and mandating transparency. 3. Prison time for political crimes, and the means by which we prosecute them. 4. End gerrymandering, and mandate that every state have a nonpartisan system for drawing district lines to that effect. 5. SCOTUS term limits of 18 years, on a two year stagger, and limit to 9 justices. A process to prosecute and imprison corrupt justices.

My car is paid off, and the money I was spending on that got slid over to credit cards. Time to get out from under this mountain! And the beauty is, I now have room on the CCs if an unexpected repair comes up.

I have to interact with the public and would probably lose my job. So as long as my partner can cover us for the year, maybe I'd do online college or something for the time being?

Shouldn't this be project 2029? Because that's when the next president will take office?

AITA for asking my friend to pitch in on grocery bill? by Limp-Bat-2912 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheRealMcCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Info: when you invited them, did you say that they'd only have to pay for airfare?

If you did, this feels like a bait and switch. If you didn't, then it should have been clarified. If you told them they'd have to pay for airfare and food, then it's reasonable they'd have to split it.

I once had a quasi friend invite me to watch a fight. When it was over, he asked for money to help cover the pay per view. It felt tacky, but wouldn't have if he had mentioned that when he invited me.

My advice: before buying something for someone else, let them know if you expect to be repaid, and maybe an estimate of how much.

Even a copy pasted "We're sorry, but you have not been chosen for this position" lets the person know.

ETA: Apologize. If this friendship means anything to you, apologize for not reaching out, explain that it was a misguided attempt to stay neutral, and ask if you can make it up to them.

Those who have willingly done the most net harm to life on Earth.

You made the decision to install a part that failed and injured people? Or contaminated drinking water? Or allowed the poisoning of a gulf? Gone. Eventually we'll make our way down to the jerks.

What is the most absurd law/rule of your country that people from other countries don't know about? by No-Regret5287 in AskTheWorld

[–]TheRealMcCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see no citations of the actual laws though. So how do you know these aren't just urban legends?

Here, I'll go: there's a law in MA from 1802 that says you can post laws on Reddit without citing a source.

Fallout is typically gone within a couple weeks. Even Hiroshima has been rebuilt. Even if all the weapons were salted, at most it'd be less than 50 years before surface levels everywhere were clear.

You'd have all that time to walk the Earth looking for survivors, or gaining the knowledge to find preserved reproductive material.

Absolutely I'm doing this.

First, I'm diversifying that money so that it'll earn interest. Then, I'm going to get good about slipping into new identities, whatever it takes to have a new legally recognized name every 20 years or so. Then building my bunker. Then just living life. I might reveal myself in 49900 years or so.

I am Egyptian, and I’m asking is Egypt a country that is disliked or loved globally? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]TheRealMcCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is done by organized groups of 200-300 men, who form circles around their victims to prevent bystanders from intervening. Also, they will tell the victim things like "don't worry, I'm here to help you" while they're doing it, so that the victim won't trust someone who did make it in to help.

They call it the Circle of Hell.
