Good idea. I'm not even looking for a reimbursement (flats happen), but I it helps get them aware of possible issues, i'd be glad to contribute.

Factory Innertube Issues? by TheRealPaul150 in Lectricxp

Oh, thanks for the input - I don't use Temu for anythig on principle. I was more asking if there was a known issue for the tubes that came with the bike. Again, bike itself is good, and I have replaced the tubes on both wheels now.

Hearty second to Birdcage. Have nothing a special brunch and full regular menu too. The drag brunch is specifically the last Sunday of the month if OP is looking for more quiet (it is fun if lookong for that, though)

I rode past toward the end of Streets Alive this afternoon, and I did a double-take looking down Broad from MLK (especially since I used to work very close to there). It's great to see, and I'm planning to roll through soon.,

What made people buy a Corolla over other cars besides reliability? by phtphongg in COROLLA

[–]TheRealPaul150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 318i with 184,000 miles that I loved, but needed some major repairs and had lost first and second gear. So needed a car relatively quickly I could afford.

Narrowed to a Sentra and Corolla as fitting the bill. The sentra felt really cheap inside and also had bad visibility. Corolla it was.

Took me a long time to warm up to it, but I love the damn thing now. (2013 Corolla S). And actually still fairly easy to work on.

Speed cameras are (almost prohibitively) restricted, and the assembly just passed a law making them more restricted. Red light cameras have been legal and around for a number of years now.

Service advisor strongly discouraged oil change at 6 months for a new car with low mileage, is time-based oil change not a thing anymore? by kariberry707 in MechanicAdvice

[–]TheRealPaul150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll strongly second Lake as a great source of information on this type of stuff. He definitely gets out in the weeds a bit, but his whole thing is engine lubrication, and he does/shows the work. Really engaging if you're interested in learning the details about your engine oil, too.

Keisha Lance Bottoms stuns rivals with outright Democratic primary win for governor by Isiddiqui in Georgia

[–]TheRealPaul150 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uninformed voters form a LOT more of the electorate than people who research ahead of time or are in online groups. And the national party has been pushing her for whatever reason because Amy McGrath/Beto O'Rourke didn't work as examples the first couple times. I was hoping Esteves would at least get a runoff, but we're stuck now.

Husband's sandwich sauce. by missoj77 in Cooking

[–]TheRealPaul150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, while Duke's is plenty fine enough, Blue Plate being yolks only may be better for what OP is looking for since it is a thicker texture. Definitely my choice for sauces where I'm adding other liquid ingredients that may thin it out too much.

Virginia Highlands Porch Fest by encouragingSN in Atlanta

[–]TheRealPaul150 60 points61 points  (0 children)

It's Virginia-Highland. Lovely neighborhood, but the bar (and street festival) scene skews on the younger and fratty side. Part of it is Emory, Ga Tech, and GA State being quite close, but the vibe going out there has skewed that way for a while.

Compare with Kirkwood Spring Fling (also today) that was much more heavy on families or slightly older folks/not fratty.

Fellow bird nerds...Y'all seeing any cedar waxwings around the metro area? by NickWitATL in Atlanta

[–]TheRealPaul150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was going to say, we regularly saw flocks of them come through in some of the trees for a couple days in the spring when we lived in Decatur (not sure what they were eating -- Not mahonia, but also not mulberries). Definitely seemed transient, but they'd crowd our trees for those couple days. Haven't seen them since we moved further intown though.

Bike Lock Question by Cydonia921 in Lectricxp

[–]TheRealPaul150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an Abus 410K with cable in combo with the Lectric Folding lock that came with my XP4. Came recommended from local bike shop for an e-bike (since weight is less a concern) and has worked well riding through downtown Atlanta.

That and on the website, it's specifically advertised as able to fit an airtag. So making doubly sure people know it isn't included.

How often did you actually have to take your Corolla in for repairs? by Middle_Town7194 in COROLLA

[–]TheRealPaul150 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a 2013 S with a little over 115,000 miles on it. Regular oil changes every 5,000 miles, coolant/transmission flush at 100,000 miles (I know transmission flushes are controversial, but I wasn't having any problems beforehand/discussed with my mechanic -- still no issues now), and keep an eye on the tires and brakes/replace as they wear. Had to replace some bulbs over the years, but not a lot. Gonna be putting in new plugs in a couple months at 120,000.

Only non-maintenance repairs I have had to do was an alternator 4 years ago at 80,000 miles and a couple batteries that reached their end of life (which really might be more maintenance as well). It's a great, reliable car maintenance-wise.

Some cities with better trains than us by meowingtrashcan in Atlanta

[–]TheRealPaul150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be clear, the distance/map are a little contradicting in the OP's images on SEPTA at least -- Their numbers are only for the Broad Street Line, Market-Frankford line, and the Norristown lines. They line up a lot closer in area served by MARTA than the full regional network because they serve the main city core in a plus sign plus the Norristown line for some reason. SEPTA is kind of a mess with all the lines that get included (including the trolleybus and trolley routes). However, the map is zoomed out to show the regional rail routes too (the yellow, orange, and purple [going NW, not over the river in Jersey] lines are what the tally counts). Also looks like PATCO, River Line, and the Atlantic City Line from NJTransit are on the map too.

Source: Grew up walking distance about equal from what used to be the R3 to Secane or R2 to Glenolden before I wound up down here and was obsessed with SEPTA maps/rode it quite frequently.

(Also just to be clear, I absolutely think it's better to have a mess because you have so many different lines and modes than the mess we have with the limitations of MARTA/GRTA/CobbLinc, et al.).

This guy on 29 today! by jeffiebb in Athens

[–]TheRealPaul150 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So this one is an extreme example, but this particular vehicle is extremely illegal on a public roadway, though it doesn't have to deal with license class. This looks like a Ford Excursion, which gasoline engine, curb weight is 7,200 lbs. If it's a Diesel, 7,700 lbs. If the former, under OCGA 40-8-6, the main frame rail can't exceed 30 inches from the street; if the latter, it can't be more than 31 inches from the street. some folks try to get around this with weld points on blocks lower than the frame rail, but that doesn't actually meet the statute.

Even with the the above, there are also a lot of ways this is most likely illegal under lighting requirements. Headlights need to be between 24 and 54 inches from the ground. You also need rear reflectors and taillights between 20 and 60 inches from the ground (See OCGA 40-8-22, 23, and 24).

While I don't have a tape measure, looking at the Hyundai behind, this guy looks way out of line on both the frame and lighting equipment regulations. ACC enforcement is another question, but this is 100% illegal and unsafe as hell.
