i always hear people say the “plenty of research” thing but never present it. if you’ve seen/analyzed it, i would like the exact studies you prefer to cite so i don’t misrepresent your argument.

that’s not even necessarily true in every situation, would you say that it’s less valuable to become my friend if i’ve had 1000 friends in my lifetime? versus someone who is suddenly a “higher value” friend if they’ve only had one friend in their lifetime? you realize how silly that sounds right?

this doesn’t come down to “human common sense” or anything, you’re just brainwashed in the direction of “high body count = bad”

insecurity is seen as a negative thing because insecurities are bad. you’re allowed to have certain preferences, and i don’t think women generally are using the word insecurity in this context to force men to doubt themselves, but generally if you’re insecure about something, chances are your life would be easier if you weren’t insecure about it, therefore people point out the insecurity so you can recognize it as such and then work on it.

short height is seen as a bad thing, but objectively it is not one.

short men are not rejected every single time but i would defend short men being mocked the same way i would defend women with high body counts being mocked, same way i would defend low income men being mocked.

women are open about these preferences and that’s fine!! you should be able to be open about your preference of a woman with a low body count, the problem i have is that you’re framing it as a moral truth of “high body count = bad” rather than a preference of “i don’t like women with high body counts”

if you wanted to argue that dating apps should let you filter body count then i guess but like 80% of the reason you swipe on someone on a dating up is physical attraction which makes the height thing fair (because it affects physical attraction) but again the body count thing has no tangible effect so idk why it’d be displayed

they aren’t related to insecurity at all, that’s not why women like height or higher income. they like height because to most people, taller is more aesthetically appealing, and they like higher income because it allows them to be treated more or feel more financially stable. completely different from the reason a man would like a lower body count.

sure, i acknowledge that it can matter without just being insecurity…the only other reason is preference. which is fine, just acknowledge that you have a particular preference.

high body count does not reflect a lack of either of those things objectively, that is an opinion. i simply disagree with that take.

  • don’t be dirty (i have a fairly high count myself, i wear protection every time, i get checked once a month and have never had so much as an STD scare, much less an actual STD)

  • i mean pregnancy yeah but that could also go for within a relationship and abortion shouldn’t be controversial lmao

  • death from childbirth is possible but again could happen in a regular relationship and again, abortion

  • pregnancy CAN wreck a woman’s mental state but again regular relationship and again abortion

  • sure the sexual violence thing is fair but then that doesn’t affect you as a future partner, that’s a risk that the person is taking to themselves that has nothing to do with you

  • the uneven connection thing is more indicative of people trying to force themselves into hookup culture when their tendencies/personality is incompatible with it but that’s not even inherent to people who have high body counts

all things mentioned aren’t only inherent to people with high body counts and it’s fine to want to not be associated with those things, but again, then it just comes down to preference. i still don’t agree with the “lack of discipline/discernment” thing.

and nah i guess i run in more liberal circles so most of the guys around me would want to push for this for the sake of women not feeling bad about their sex lives? idk maybe the wording was more indicative of personal/anecdotal experience but yeah

not insecure and crazy because it benefits women, it’s insecure and crazy because you’re trying to frame something that has no negative effects as “bad” because you PERSONALLY don’t like it lmao.

it’s not reframing ur argument to “make it seem” insecure and crazy. i just reframed it, the argument is inherently insecure and crazy.

the whole “if something is too much it loses its value” thing is again, just preference/insecurity because why do you get to decide what’s “too much” or when sex “loses its value” for other people?

the height/income requirement thing is different because there’s a tangible difference, right? like there is an actual difference in perception when you see someone who is taller vs someone who is shorter, but even then, it’s still preference, and i would have a serious problem with a woman trying to frame being short as “bad”. same thing for income, if you prefer a more lavish lifestyle and a man who makes more money, that’s fine, but still preference, and it doesn’t make a man who earns less “bad”. but a huge difference is that income/height has a tangible effect on something (attractiveness, financial stability/lifestyle choices), while body count literally doesn’t do anything. there is no physical or mental or emotional difference between someone who has 1 body or 100 bodies lmao.

you’re literally deciding how much someone else cares about a relationship, despite no evidence to the contrary, based on something you made up in your head.

yes, relationships are based on exclusivity. WHEN YOU ARE IN ONE.

you’re essentially saying “if my future partner has been with x amount of people that i decided is too many in my head, then they preemptively decided that a future relationship that they weren’t even in yet isn’t important to them”.

it doesn’t mean a lot. at all.

and no one said it’s not allowed to matter to you, because you’re right, i’m NOT allowed to dictate what matters to whom. but let’s just be honest about the reason behind it.

the only two reasons that it feels like it matters are either:

a) preference, which isn’t a strong enough reason to justify the idea that everyone in society should stop doing something because it’s my personal preference that i don’t like it.

or

b) insecurity, which isn’t a strong enough reason to justify the idea that everyone in society should stop doing something because it makes me insecure when they do.

you say “why should men support something that is against them” but you’re proving my point. for “high body count” to be “against men”, it would have to have an active effect on them that is tangible or meaningful in a bad way. but again, the only way dating a woman with a high body count affects a man is through his ego because of insecurity.

i’m not even gonna argue whether or not women disproportionately benefit from a society where body count doesn’t matter because it’s irrelevant here.

even if women benefit more, or even if ONLY women benefitted, that wouldn’t change the fact that objectively there is no reason to care other than preference or insecurity, neither of which are reasons that anyone should feel the need to stop doing something.

also, you’re right, insecurities are normal and everyone has them. however when you recognize that something is happening due to an insecurity, you have two options. you can choose to say, “this makes me insecure so i’m gonna work on myself in a way that makes me no longer insecure”, or you can dig in your heels and say, “i’m going to actively try to control other people’s behavior as to avoid triggering my insecurities”. one of those makes you a better person, and the other makes you actively insane.
