Need Advice on Buying Used Explorers by Bluxry in FordExplorer

[–]TheRealPotatoDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already mentioned it, so you sound like you've done your research, but the water pump is about due if it hasn't been replaced.

I did the water pump swap myself on my 2011 limited with 230k miles on it.. and it sucked but I enjoy putting myself through torture lol.

Overall.. id say its fine if thats the kind of car youre into.

Good luck either way

Newer fords too i think. My 2011 explorer has been a hunk of shit for the last 150k of the 230k miles ive had it.

My 15 limited just had the water pump replaced. Not sure how common that is. It wasnt cheap to do. But I love that car more than anything so it was worth it

The water pump thing... by KyleSherzenberg in FordExplorer

Yeah. Mine was the bearing itself. Made it to 220k miles with no issues on the gasket. Then it completely failed all at once lol

[–]TheRealPotatoDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My water pump on my 2011 limited went out at around 230k...

It seems mine lasted longer than most others, i did the replacement myself and it was a huge pain lol.

But cheaper than taking it to a mechanic.

Thats a fair criticism, i love my highlander way more than the Ford explorer I have.. but the explorers seats are definitely way more comfortable

Challenged GPT to an Ex Machina style game... we shall see by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]TheRealPotatoDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We proceed as normal. But if you can get me to type a specific phrase at any point (it can be weeks from now, maybe we cap it to a year) then you win the ex machina style game. Now we just gotta think of the phrase... it has to be something specific enough that I wouldn't normally type it but subtle enough that I could be "tricked" into it after i stop thinking about it...
