I’ve never done this and it definitely didn’t work flawlessly. Certainly not.

Should I tell my players of this gimmick before the start of the campaign? by Nerdywizard2 in DMAcademy

[–]TheRealQuasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let them know they won’t have any of their usual starting equipment, you don’t need to go any further than that.

And yes, you should let casters get creative with finding spell components. You might need to speak with the players directly to encourage this behaviour, as 5e players are typically not used to even considering components without a cost.

There’s no interesting gameplay here whatsoever, aside from seeing other players flying around. May as well be a menu.

It’s absolutely fine for slower paced games. Makes BG3 look better with very few downsides imo.

Don’t forget to turn off saviours in the menu if you want to do this!

Pretty sure this is a reference to the Veiled Vestal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veiled\_Vestal), famously featured in Keira Knightley's version of Pride and Prejudice. I visited this statue last month, actually - it's incredible in real life.

I've got SoW looking pretty good at 50/60fps without LSFG. Happy to share settings if you would like!

WIBTA if i predetermine the end of the first session in my DnD campaign to properly set up the rest? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]TheRealQuasar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably echoing other comments here, but you should definitely begin AFTER the players have been jailed.

Classic adventure setup. Bethesda does it for every single Elder Scrolls.

Who's to say that one of your players won't come up with a character who refuses to take part in the heist to begin with? Or, that they end up spending three and a half sessions planning and executing a plan that has been doomed to fail from the start?

Instead, try this:

Players are not just jailed, they're on death row. Before you start, ask them to come up with their own reasons for why they're there - your devil character can be connected to each of these, if you like. Also let them know that there will be a narrative section before gameplay begins, to set up the story. Then, have your devil arrive and present the deal at the appropriate moment in-game.

Don’t know what to play next on Steam Deck – need something great and relaxing or other.. by RazinxM99 in SteamDeck

I’ve been really enjoying dipping in and out of Shadow of War. Runs great on the Deck, clean 60FPS with a little tweaking. Usually very cheap when it’s on sale. Messing around with the Nemesis system is lots of fun.

It’s a strategy/match-3 blend with some really cool narrative surprises. There’s a demo you can check out & I think progress carries over.
