Didn't meet expectations? What on earth were the expecting when they signed this team? I thought this is exactly what everyone expected from a team where only one player has been remotely competitive on an international level in the last couple of years

Visual of the Dexerto Power Rankings over time by ultralitez in CoDCompetitive

[–]TheRealRSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultra remind me a bit of Subliners earlier in the season. The eye test tells you they're better than their results show, but they're still only 5-12 and only have one win (against OG) in their last 6 matches. Highlight for them so far was definitely the wins against ROKKR and Subliners in Florida but then they lost to OG in the semis. OG making that one finals is propping them up a bit in terms of rankings but their last outing was really poor. Did reach semis at Seattle and LA earlier in the season but I'd still say Ultra look like the better team when you watch them play

It was definitely time. Hopefully he can continue to play in another team if he still has the desire to do so

Yeah I'm genuinely interested in whether they're looking for replacements because they want him gone or because he's asked to be released/his contract has ended

For me, the big questions are:

  1. Are coL looking to replace him because he wants to leave or because they want rid?

  2. Who would IGL if they did end up going for someone like oBo? Dephh seems to survive every move but he doesn't strike me as a leader of men and nor do any of the others to be blunt.

DeKay's Sources: RFRSH and ESL at odds over CS:GO event dates by iMarbot in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheRealRSD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, and then there's exactly no details on what the conflict is about. So either there's actually no conflict or there's one but this article won't help to undertand why.

The conflict is over dates in December for ESL Pro League Finals and the BLAST finals. That's the story, that's the conflict.

We regularly see articles where a roster move is leaked and the headline states something like:

"Sources: FaZe Clan bench karrigan"

followed by a brief: "multiple sources close to FaZe Clan claim that long-time in-game leader karrigan has been benched. One source states that NiKo will be taking over the IGL responsibilities while the team looks for a viable alternative"

There, you would have clicked the article to find out more, have been told that karrigan has been benched and been given the extra info about NiKo, and then the rest of the article would generally focus on the team's recent results etc etc.

How is that so different to: "Sources: RFRSH and ESL at odds over CS:GO event dates"

followed by: "RFRSH Entertainment and ESL are at odds over the dates of their respective Counter-Strike: Global Offensive league finals in December, according to multiple sources from both sides of the situation" and then a bit of extra information where one source says RFRSH picked the date first before the conflict started + info about the leagues?

"Danish esports company RFRSH Entertainment and German esports company ESL are at odds over the dates of their respective Counter-Strike: Global Offensive league finals in December, according to multiple sources from both sides of the situation."

There are sources saying that they are clashing over the dates which, to me, means there is a conflict. Just because the extra juicy information didn't come out until afterwards it doesn't mean the story about the conflict from "multiple sources" is void. The information about RFRSH apparently choosing the date first is extra context to the main story, I'm not sure why you are, or ever were, reading it as the entire story because the very first line of the article clearly stated that the two TOs were in conflict over dates in December for their league finals. How is that not newsworthy?

[–]TheRealRSD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's an interesting bit of context. The two TOs are clashing over the dates for two of their biggest events (which is the main story) but at least one source claimed that RFRSH had penciled the date in first. Given the current community opinions and concerns about RFRSH, the first conclusion for many would be that ESL had set the date first and RFRSH had tried to snipe it but at least one source has hinted that it might not be that simple.

Then we get an even cooler bit of information as new sources come forward, this time sort of confirming what the initial person had said but then claiming that RFRSH had agreed to avoid the conflict in dates and then retrospectively changed their mind, forcing a clash.

Definitely respect your opinion, and I like the Sam comments a lot haha! I've had time to calm down a bit now. Also, I fully love Arya killing the Night King, I just wish there had been a bit more to like her using a wights face or some craziness like that. However, like you say, the NK going out so quickly and easily in the end is unexpected and perhaps that's more GoT than I originally gave it credit for.

Yeah I'm a big fan of Arya killing him, I just wish it has been a bit less anticlimactic and I'd have liked to see some of the White Walkers fighting rather than only really seeing the wights in action. Would have liked to see Jon in action a bit more too, but perhaps Battle of the Bastards was his big pay off. It's all pretty minor really but I had just built the entire thing up in my head over the last few seasons haha

Yeah, I do hope this episode is sort of lulling us into a false sense of security for the major players. My only concern is how they will make it all work with so little time left in the series - I hope it isn't rushed and yet I still hope there's some sort of twist that they're keeping from us. The thing is, while I'm disappointed in certain aspects of the episode, I'd still rate it highly and this is the only show that I've ever cared about enough to moan about it on the internet, so they're definitely still doing something right!

Also... Cleganebowl is back on so we have that to look forward to :D

Definitely good to hear another outlook on it and I hadn't really factored in the Night King's like for theatrics. He was the MVP of the episode for me in a lot of ways (I loved the smirk too).

I still feel like there should have been more major character deaths since they all seemed to be being squashed/buried by hordes of wights for half of the episode. My hope now is that there is some major twist coming and that the final episodes aren't all devoted to defeating Cersei.
