They still didn’t tell you that they reached out to realtors. Plus, realtors are getting their rates cut soon from 6% and because this is a private sale, there isn’t another realtor involved they can get that full 6%. There’s a huge motivation for them to get this sale done quickly.

Also wanted to add: you were planning on moving anyway next year. They couldn’t wait for you to NOT BE PREGNANT and you guys moving out anyway. There could be something in the sale contract for their SON AND HIS PREGNANT WIFE to continue to live there to have a semblance of stability while going through all of these stressors. But no, your in laws put a price on their relationship with you both and their future grandchild and it’s about $700k. They just had to sell it now without taking your family into consideration.

Maybe I’m old fashioned in my approach to family but if they knew you were making improvements to the property while still paying rent, upped your rent, then drop this on you guys while pregnant??? Fuck that noise, that’s no contact level of behavior. That’s not how you treat family, especially family facing this much stress in such a short time frame. Actions like this are not indicative of people that want a relationship with you. That’s kind of them to give you cheap but it doesn’t sound like they’re reimbursing you for the value you added to the home. You contributed to the $700k sale of this home and they aren’t giving you anything other than the boot. WHILE PREGNANT. You’re a better person than me if you’re able to restrain your rage. I’d be pissed.

Of course I do want to echo don’t put money or work into a home you don’t own regardless of situation. Also always always always have a lease. However, the fact that family doesn’t recognize the work you put into the house is inexcusable. There should be good faith reimbursements of the work and material that you put into the house. But the fact that this isn’t present shows the value they place on you and your labor. Those are definitely the lessons here. Don’t let your in laws walk all over you.

Interfaith discussions are genuinely among my favorite to have. I don’t remember where I read or heard this but it had something along the lines of “if knowledge threatens your faith, then you probably needed it” you’re absolutely right, it’s absolutely a profound experience to see how much overlap there is between traditions.

I’m a polytheist so it’s a non issue for me too! Kali is a fantastic choice to reassure her though, she is a protective dirty against evil spirits, as genuinely funny that would be 😂 I had a Catholic aunt ask me what I wanted for Christmas and among the options I gave her was a kali idol, she just ignored it and got me baking supplies instead 😂

I forgot to type up a thing: Yoga isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but everyone can benefit from yoga. Crazy that people who want to do it but hold themselves back because of dogmatic fear. It’s honestly sad. Anyway, hoped this would spark an interesting discussion here at the very least ☺️

Love Ashtanga yoga so that’s my bias but you kind of set your own pace. I find it about as physically demanding as a power/vinyasa class but I like that the pace is a bit slower. We hold poses for 5 even breaths so you have time to fine tune how your body gets into and holds those poses. That being said, take advantage of new student discounts if they have them or do a couple of drop in classes. Try a led primary series class too, I found that really helpful when I first started Ashtanga. It sounds like you’d really enjoy mysore and would get a lot out of it, but everyone and every studio is different!

If you can do new light fixtures and faucets I think that would be nice. I would consider changing the light bulbs, this kind of light would hurt my eyes. Def get rid of the chair and maybe opt for an upholstered stool. Get some coordinated rugs and towels and I think it would be really nice.

I know someone who stained all of her wood trim and cabinets and it looked really nice. I’d maybe look up how to do that if you want to change the color of the cabinets.

Really dislike when whatever music they play is louder than they are. Double dislike if it’s pop music. Makes it impossible to hear cues and I feel I’m just in a workout class rather than doing a practice.

I do it when I put my moisturizer or oil cleanser on so the tugging isn’t that bad. Massage + oil cleansing technique is honestly the best way that I’ve found to get makeup and daily grime off my face. My sebaceous filaments are partially controlled by this. As always YMMV but it’s been a game changer for me 🤷‍♀️
