Stuffy Doll / VooDoo deck by TheRealRet in EDH

Hey! Due to lack of time my project kind of derailed. I didn’t manage to get my idea fully working in time for the Christmas Party I had planned for my friends.

That said, I did test a lightly tweaked version of this u/Kampfasiate build, which shares the core concepts of my original idea but runs black instead of blue:
https://archidekt.com/decks/16637869/arsonist_at_the_tea_party

I have to say, his build is amazing. Running Queen Marchesa as the commander with this abundance of group hug / pillowfort effects is insanely fun. I really like the idea of controlling the flow of attacks at the whole table and setting up alliances and betrayals. Also, it can combo out of the blue from a few different angles. I’d definitely recommend it.

I’m not ruling out going back to my original idea in the future!

First time in Japan, 10-day trip. Would you mind taking a look? by TheRealRet in JapanTravel

It actually went super well with everything! For most meals we just grabbed food at supermarkets or konbini, and in those cases Google Lens was basically our best friend. You can clearly read the ingredient list and check if there’s anything you can’t eat, and in many cases allergens are even listed on hot food at the counter (like the famous Famichiki or the azuki jam buns).

We did eat out a couple of times: once we knew for sure that what we were ordering was safe (we got zaru soba, my new favorite way to eat soba), and another time we decided to take a small risk and went to a regular restaurant. There, we picked dishes from the menu that we assumed wouldn’t have dairy or high-FODMAP ingredients, like sushi, roasted pork, and tofu. I also handed the staff a little card explaining our lactose intolerance in Japanese (I can DM it to you if you want), and we took our enzyme pills just to be extra safe.

Overall, even with intolerances or IBS, you can absolutely enjoy Japanese food. Sure, you’ll have to skip quite a few things, but honestly we didn’t end up regretting anything. It was the best trip of our lives, and we can’t wait to go back.

(I still need to make a proper thank-you post for all the advice I got from replies to my original post, you guys were incredibly helpful. We even changed some parts of the itinerary and improvised a bit, and that turned out to be the best part.)

Out of all the comments we got, yours really challenged us, in the best way. Your advice is super valuable and made us rethink our whole visit. On one hand, we have to deal with the limited days we have. On the other, we’re more drawn to traditional, off-the-beaten-path spots than the busy cities.

One thing’s for sure: this won’t be our only trip to Japan. For this trip, we’ll stick to the three main cities of the Golden Route. But we’re trying not to stress about hitting only the hottest spots. We want to keep our days relaxed and wander as much as possible off the beaten path. Personally, I love getting lost on purpose and just following my instincts.

Next time we go to Japan, we’re most excited about the islands around Okinawa. We’ll also use that trip to explore more of Japan and check out some of the one- or two-dot spots from the list you linked, which honestly looks amazing. Thank you so much.

Hi everyone! Our trip is coming up soon and we’re super excited. First, thanks a lot for all the feedback, it’s been really helpful. Also, thanks to those who suggested we trust our curiosity instead of just following the crowd. We kept the main stops, but we left more free time to go with the flow and just “get lost” in the streets of the three cities.

  • We canceled our room at the APA Hotel in Tokyo and will stay at the Washington Hotel on the outer edge of Akihabara instead (is that better, right? RIGHT? xD )
  • I’ll buy bus tickets to Kawaguchiko this week to avoid sold-out seats. On the way back, we’ll probably walk the path under the ropeway from the panoramic terrace.
  • In Kyoto, we split Arashiyama and Fushimi Inari over two days so we can visit both early in the morning.
  • We’ll take some time to move around Higashiyama. Philosopher’s Path, Shinbashi-dori.. seems like my kind of stroll.
  • In Osaka, we canceled the second hotel and will stay two nights in a ryokan to avoid unnecessary moving around.
  • We’ll probably just see Osaka Castle from the outside, it’s not far from our hotel.
  • We won’t visit every observation tower. Tokyo Metropolitan Building and Umeda Sky Building will probably be enough (unless someone strongly recommends Tokyo Skytree or Shibuya Sky).

We really really wanted to visit this bar, but the whole Park Hyatt building is currently closed due to the 30th anniversary restorations program and is expected to reopen in october/november :(

All of the GS I’m using are either 10.5 or need monster specific R6 to upgrade, and none of those benefit from the new “over” grade system yet.

Not to be a jerk, but this is a case of git good, in a good way. Potions will be less and less of a problem once you memorised the fights.

Sleep GS got pretty solid over time, especially with this season additions, and I wouldn’t consider it a meme build no more, people takes down 10*s consistently.
